I managed to catch a junction last Saturday on UTV, and Julian still refers to the news from ITN in London, and still gives a live time check. (In this case it was sixteen minutes to six)
Yes, UTV on air talent
always
refer to the news as ITN and not ITV. But, I have noticed recently on UTV Live one of the presenters throws over to whatever presenter is doing the ITV News for a "coming up at 6:30" preview and they have said ITV instead of ITN. Perhaps a new rule since the purchase of the channel? The pre-recorded VO played at the end of The Chase every day still has Gillian Porter referring to the 'news from ITN', but it was recorded years ago and is still used to this day.
They often called it ITV News when the ITN brand first started to fade in prominence about 16 years ago. In recent years I have heard them say "the news from ITV" on occasion, which sounds weird.
I imagine the branding will be aligned when they relaunch tbh. Any update on when? It's strange that they released the new logo without an indication of when it'll be in use. It'll stop me having to revert the Wikipedia page for a start.
UTV Live is being presented today by the newsreader in front of a green screen instead of in the studio. Work has started on remodelling the newsroom to make it look like the standard ITV set I take it?
This wasn't a short bulletin. This was their main 630pm news programme.
The only bulletins which come from the main studio are Live at Six and UTV Live Tonight.
All other bulletins - lunchtime, weekend, bank holiday and 10.30pm bulletins on Fridays and when UTV Live Tonight is on a break - come from the CSO studio. Tonight being one of those instances.
The likelihood of UTV adopting the ITV regional set this week - being election week, apart from anything else - is highly unlikely.
I'd have thought that there would be a press release or something before the rebrand (because it's a whole station rebrand with new logo, not just a new news set). Especially since they've already announced what's happening, we just don't know when.
I wonder have the new ITV/UTV idents been filmed yet?
I didn't think they were switching to the new set this week, I was merely pointing out that their main 6pm news programme was being presented infront of a dodgy green screen. I've never noticed them doing this before and thought it might have been because the main set was now out of commission due to remodelling work starting to bring the new look in, which I'm sure will take them weeks to complete. If they do this regularly then not to worry.

It was a bank holiday yesterday though -- UTV might just be doing the bulletin on the cheap as a result, nothing unusual there.
