According to the 'showbiz' section of The Daily Mail website, Tulisa Contostavlos is to take the place of Mel B tonight, following her hospitalisation for exhaustion.
I don't know why the show wasn't allowed to just go ahead with three judges. Louis and Cheryl have no acts left. I'm sure one of them could have said something like, "unfortunately, Mel is unwell and unable to be here tonight, so allow me to introduce - Andrea!"
Bit of a mess-on, really.

It's more than just that, they needed someone to advise him beforehand, and help him prepare.

I like Tulisa but as a stand-in mentor for Andrea there is probably nobody less appropriate. I agree it would have been better to just have the three of them (as happened a bit in the audition stages) with probably Louis taking on the mentoring role considering he has championed Andrea throughout.
Do think it's quite ironic though that Mel misses the final due to illness when all series she's been slagging off contestants at the slightest mention of them being under the weather.

I think she's walked.

They've got the show staff to do that. The judges normally just show up for the cameras to give some bits of non-advice.
Still can't believe how much they've used Tulisa this series. Really thought they'd never touch her again with a barge pole.

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott (not Beautiful South) were performing their latest song, which was only released last month. Releasing it in November was good timing on their part, rather than it being a calculated move by Pointless.
Can't have been a coincidence to have the slightly surreal end to Pointless, with the Beautiful South performing a blatant anti-X Factor song. Interesting given the close ratings.
(and nice to have it running over the credits, thought that was still a no-no)

Pointless Celebrities if a music themed show (or sometimes even just the presence of somebody who can sing if you throw a microphone in their direction) quite often runs a performance of some sort over the credits.
I think a previous revision of this required either approval and/or notification to use live action so presentation were aware but I can't find this now.

End credits should run over visually interesting graphics or live action but this should not be editorially critical to the integrity of the programme or include speech as they may be shrunk to accommodate promotional messages.
End Credits should be justified to the centre and must be either cards or vertical scroller
End credits should not include action which is editorially critical to the integrity of the programme (including production-made trails or helpline information).

I got the feeling she may have walked. She has sometimes seem really pissed for no real reason throughout the show and it has often been a question of mine on whether or not she'll return next year.
I also thought when the said Mel's off sick that they would have just had the 3, in the past even on the live shows we've seen just 3 judges due to one being off and I just didn't expect to have a guest judge on the final. Then, Tulisa and I do in fact like her so I was quite pleased but something tells me it wasn't just the case "ah ask Tulisa" certainly not when the had Take That on performing and could have just had Gary sit in with his previous X Factor knowledge if they needed someone desperately. There have been a few rumours that the producers are interested in having Tulisa back on the show as a judge, I'm thinking tonight with Mel off they jumped at the chance to trial Tulisa on the show again?
It'll be interesting to see if Mel is on tomorrow, if Andrea had stayed I would have though that she would have even turned up ill to support him and stand with him at the result but now I'm not sure if she'll turn up. Obviously, she is contracted to but IMO she is quite a self-centred person and so with no acts left and still "unwell" it might be the case that Tulisa will be on tomorrow night too. If Mel is off and Tulisa is back I think my theory holds some truth because there wouldn't really be any need for a guest judge in this situation now - time will tell.

Well it's certainly helped Tulisa back in the limelight.
