Is there some rule stating that they can't give away more than £1m as the jackpot, or are we going to see them up it to £1.5m in a few weeks in a cynical attempt to gain a ridiculous amount of publicity (especially as the Silly Season is fast approaching)?

If they want to save the show, they need to cut down on the amount of time its on. Its too slow-paced, especially the first 5 contestants! They need to cut it down, possibly by getting rid of a contestant (down to 4). Maybe getting contestants which are less stupid would help too!

Wonder why they're sticking at £1m, they could make history if it goes higher.

They probably don't want to overshadow WWTBAM - if shows start giving away more than a mill, people won't think as much of WWTBAM anymore ('Huh, only a million? Vault gave away more than that!') and therefore it would be a case of the show going down to friendly fire. But then WWTBAM probably only has a few more years before it runs out of steam, having been on air since 1998...

Finally! Someone has won the jackpot! A woman from Fife won £1,000,000 live on air! The biggest amount ever!!! Next week, the jackpot's back to £100,000 again! It's taken some 11 or 12 weeks for it to actually happen though!

Was it a studio contestant or caller?

It was a caller, who was phoning with her boyfriend nearby. I entered my name and my mum and I knew all six answers to the questions, but alas, it was not to be for me!

There's a report on Teletext this evening saynig it's the most amount of money won live on television. I seem to remember TFI Friday giving away £1million in a quiz spread over a few weeks shortly before Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire was launched.

Whether this part of the show was live or prerecorded. Who knows, too far to remember that far back but if it was live then looks like Teletext may have their facts wrong.

TFI Friday was recorded hours before the actual transmission. However what Teletext are saying is false as both Survivor finals which would declare the winner and give the £1 Million prize away were both done live.

Silly me, of course TFI was pre-recorded although started of live until somebody decided to start swearing. His name escapes me but funny it was.
