UTV sell TV business to ITV

Remember for the time being Julian still has employment at UTV, even if it is behind the camera. He is probably thankful that he will still get a wage, for the time being.

I reckon we'll be seeing him on screen in some shape or form - possibly the weather. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets to front Santa Flashes as part of that too.

It's not uncommon for ITV regional weather presenters to also get some duties presenting packages and/or OBs within the regional news programme about cutesy-pie/community spirit/local history/admiring the manicured gardens of a country estate (etc) kind of lightweight fluff. Into which the forecast itself is incorporated.

Such a weatherman-cum-fluffmeister role would be a perfect way to keep Julian visible on-screen, methinks.

Or he could become UTVs answer to Paul Crone without doing the weather.

Has he ever fronted any UTV local programming?

I can't think of a series he's fronted... there probably has been something.

Gillian of course used to present UTV Life, when it was a Sunday afternoon show.

Will we now see more adverts for the like of ITV2,3 &4 as previously UTV never advertised what was on these channels but if you watched ITV on Sky there would of been ads for these channels?

I'm wondering if there might be a small update to the idents shown on ITV, possibly integrating some of the images to be used on UTV.

I'd be interested to see if ITV moves to using the gradient style logo as seen in that UTV image.

Over-analyising really tiny images from the web for upcoming TV rebrands, it's 2002 again and I'm in my element.

He presented UTV Rewind and Come Fly With Julian. He also used to have a segment on UTV Life where he talked about what was happening in the soaps that week.

Of course... Forgot about those. Though UTV Rewind looked like it was made in the continuity studio.

The new UTV idents clearly match the existing style - didn't they say they'd be used on network too? It'll be easy to adapt the existing idents for UTV, and have two versions of the new ones (for UTV and ITV), as it's just a CG logo on live action footage. They did this once before, when the previous ITV1 idents were changed to include a gradient on the logo instead of one solid colour.
