Well, I hope those who were taking issue with the FA Cup Draw on The One Show were trying to follow the League Cup Draw last night. Announced at being at 10pm on Sky Sports 1, it wasn't because we had to wait until all the night's matches finished because they affected the seeding. So Sky Sports 1 bailed out and said it would be "later" on Sky Sports News. It's not as if there was any other major sport last night so of course the audience will have happily jettisoned Britain going for gold medals at the Olympics to watch Paul Walsh watch extra time in QPR vs Swindon.
And after all the matches had finished, we still didn't get the draw but some more chat, until it was announced the draw was "minutes away" and coming up after the break. And after the break... not the draw but Roberto di Matteo's post-match interview (first shown on Sky Sports 1 half an hour previously) and some more chat about Aston Villa. And then, at 10.45, the actual draw, which was the most convoluted and viewer-unfriendly draw you'll ever see, at the end of which - which, as you'll recall, couldn't be done any earlier because of the late results affecting the seeding - Bristol City still didn't know who they were playing because it depends on the result of Bristol Rovers vs Cardiff, which is played tonight. And which affects the seeding.
And then after all that, there was no time for any kind of reaction or even to put the completed draw on screen because Soccer Special had to go off air. On a 24 hour sports news channel.
What with that and the highlights on Channel Five at five past midnight (George Riley: "Good evening... or good morning!"), I'm sure we can all commend the Football League for doing their very best to ensure no casual viewer pays any attention to this competition and it's hardcore fans all the way. They'd rather have nobody watching than those awful casual fans. Well done everyone.
Speaking of the, er, EFL Cup, it had new titles and now uses the music that FL72 Live was using for the last two seasons.
Indeed, losing Inner Smile by Texas after at least a decade. This competition is a farce.

For American premiere league fans the networks of NBCUniversal will air six games live while the rest are available on Live Extra or through OnDemand OverFlow channels.

I guess there's just not enough time to fit it all in if they start later. Either way, it puts a bit of a strain on resources back home - there are a lot of technical staff, OB trucks and kit out in Rio at the moment.
