Oh my god. The score bug on the Scotland v Wales Rugby League game being streamed live on BBC Online at the moment is HIDEOUS and HUGE. So unneccesary.

Since posts like this are pointless without a screengrab, I've gone and got one.

I really hope that's not indicative of the BBC graphics for the next few Scottish internationals this November. I happen to prefer BT Sport's commentary and presentation anyway, but I appreciate non-subscribers don't have the choice.

This is Rugby League and they’re just relaying the event organisers online feed, the output has nothing to do with the BBC apart from the fact it’s ended up on their website.

Does anyone (outside the UK, obviously) do their own version with the Premier League? We keep hearing how big a product the PL is abroad - PLP could even produce their own.

NBC Sports have ‘Goal Rush’ on their ‘NBC Sports Gold’ streaming service each Saturday, pretty certain it’s PLP (graphics, music, no references to any particular network) but a quick search doesn’t being up references to other networks taking it. Seem to remember reading they tried it with the Boxing Day games before it became a full time service a couple of years ago. Some background on it here:

‘Goal Rush’ has a ‘featured’ game with separate commentary from the main PLP coverage. When there is a goal in another game the main game continues in a small box whilst the goal is played in.

Goal Rush is produced in London by Premier League Productions, I’ve seen it on Hotstar, Star Sports Select, it’s much better then the programmes in the UK. It usually shows a live game but with alternative English commentary so they can link into other matches with the goals going in.

Speaking of FreeSports, it’s now available on Sky in Ireland on channel 429. Not sure why eir Sport is happy with that given they are showing a chunk of the same programmes (including at least one studio programme actually produced by eir Sport, the Pro 14 Hour).

Tennis TV v Amazon Prime for the NextGen ATP Finals.

Amazon Prime still having horizontal movement issues as they had with the US Open earlier this year with exactly the same source material. Mystifying

You'd think that in my many years of working in places which get feeds of the 3pm Saturday kick-offs, I'd have stumbled across that... every day's a school day!

NBA on Sky Sports.
Watching the game this morning, I notice Sky don't have a jumpy producer jabbing down the fader on the feed from across the pond as quickly as BT Sport did.

We even had the full 'NBA on ESPN is brought to you by..' sponsorship live read and logos.
Something that I never saw on BT Sport.

Apologies if it's been mentioned - but Sky One are simulcasting the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday from 4:30pm.

I believe this is the first time a 'Sky Sports exclusive' race has been simulcast on Sky One.

The Sun (natch) are reporting that Sky have bid £100m for Scottish football rights for the 3 years from 2020.

It'll be interesting to see how much money talks - BT have clearly been on the charm offensive lately with their coverage.
