Since Sunday 21st October, Regional Football matches have been shown on regional ITV1 from 2.00pm to about 4.30pm, under the banner 'Soccer Sunday Live'

I've been keeping a record and up to this Sunday, the following number of matches have been shown in each region.

Live games have been shown over 15 weeks so far, 10 of those having a live game in at least one region (No Live coverage on Nov 11th, Dec 23rd, Dec 30th, Jan 6th or Jan 27th)

8 - HTV West

7 - Carlton Westcountry; Carlton Central

6 - HTV Wales

4 - LWT; Anglia; Granada

3 - Yorkshire

1 - Border; Meridian; Channel

0 - Tyne Tees

UTV, Scottish and Grampian do their own thing, as they obviously arn't part of the English Football League, so arn't included.

Scotsport should be renamed OLDFIRMSPORT as all they seem to care about is Rangers and Celtic, as both seem to share the first 2 matches in the highlights slot all the time, and with the most comprehensive highlights as well.

Why not put the Rangers match 4th and Celtic the 5th highlights match here and there to give every other team their fair coverage.  The matches involving Rangers and Celtic are not always the most attractive fixtures of the day.

I went off Scotsport a long time ago because of their pro-old firm bias.

What happened to the Scottish ice hockey and basketball I remember fondly for many years on the programme.

Tyne Tees at the moment only have Darlington, Hartlepool and York to choose from so it is not surprising they have not shown any - although I personally would like to see them! I thought that was what local TV was supposed to show!

Never mind though - next season it looks like they will probably have the rights to Middlesborough and Sunderland games anyway Wink

It's interesting to see HTV taking on CARLTON matches!

I Hate HTV West
I wish HTV would stop showing Swindon -- every time they show up for a live game, Town lose! Curse!

PROOF HULL SUB OPT ISN'T WORKING: Even during this, we get no news about Boston United. I know East Midlands Today do Boston United news but on the current arrangement in my house, we can't do that.

ITV Yorkshire I believe do mention Boston United very frequently if there's news to tell. Maybe the BBC could take lessons fron this.

Exactly!!! This is a silly count, it all depends on the number of teams in division one for each region. The 3 mentioned for the NE are in div 3 so there is no chance of anything being shown live there. Since when did Yorkshire TV screen a live div 3 match ffs!?!?! And Border's / Westcountry's matches are not local, they just show whatever Central shows. No, TTTV are in the same 'does not apply' category as UTV etc.

i dont quite understand, when you say htv west=8, are they all local teams, or are they rebroadcasting other regions shows?

didnt central do a split programme on one occasion when there were 2 clubs in the west playing, but some east midlands side was playing a yorkshire side, so Central East take Yorkshire TV's programme, and Central West have their own programme - im not sure what Central South took - probably Central West .... was i dreaming, or did this happen recently?

I think HTV and Carlton Westcountry show matches by teams which arn't in the region.

Most other regions, just show live games when one of the teams is in their region

This afternoon, YTV and Anglia are both showing Norwich v Sheffield United, There are separate programmes on each channel, but Anglia are using Yorkshire's commentary

Wimbledon v Manchester City is being shown on Granada, Border England and LWT

All other regions are showing various old films

I just thought the programmes were produced by the ITV Sport team (event tv etc.) and the commentry came from ITV Sport, with the main programmes added depending on the region. Does any other region use a 'LIVE' caption, meridian put it's face on the match doggy style.
