I'm wondering what space they're using... the current/old studio is surrounded by newsroom space and wall!

Is it a new studio ? I suspect they are just expanding into more of the newsroom space with a new set? The old set had a slightly cosmetic cluster of about 8 desks - which presumably have been squeezed in around the corner?

Yeah its based in a place called The Great Hall. It used to be the towns old knocking shop, but now houses a cluster of old farts who try and put on a regional news programme called South East Today. They don't believe in having any sports coverage. In fact I have it on very good authority the the head of news hates sport, so wants very little mention of it on the programme. They also have the lowest reach of any BBC regional news programme in the country.
Whats wrong with it:
1 Presentation
2 Lighting
3 Set Design (What design)
4 Content
5 Reporters with no personality ( A BBC pre-requisit)

The show needs a complete overhall with new presenters that would give it some 'lift'
Surely it's plainly obvious whats wrong with it.
The regional Meridian programme is constantly beating it in the ratings, it has far better news coverage (Hard & Light stories)
Its been on-air far longer than the beeb in the area and people 'believe in it'

AFAIK North West Tonight changed to the BBC News look over the Easter period a good few years back. Out of all the regions, NWT is most in need of a revamp I reckon... whilst other regions have tinkered with the new look, NWT still looks pretty much the same as it always has, with the exception of the new stuff introduced when the studio went a bit red. Hell, we still have the ladder inset.

What looks like the back drop is very 'BBC News 24'esqe, and I can just see those spaces on the right hand walls containing lights and purspex over them, like the side walls in the national studio, Oh well I like the look of it anyway.
