Wow... Kevin had loads of cards today for his birthday - amazing when most days there aren't any! I believe my card was included with those he had in front of him... which I am pleased about, I was worried it might be sitting somewhere near the bottom of a big postbag as I only posted it on Wednesday...
Unfortunately he didn't have much time to read them out (probably because of the Jersey Royals omnibus that seemed to go on for ages!) but he may read some out over the next few days...
Yup Puffins Pla(i)ce is a sort of cult hit in these circles. It represents the last bit of proper regionality on the ITV network. I never get time to watch it anymore, but it's what CITV SHOULD be. I really don't see why they cannot set up a link and let Channel do some "BBC Broom Cupboard" style continuity on CITV.
There was a good show on Monday. Following the premiere appearance of the new Channel ident, Kevin went into great detail about yesterday's refresh. Saying stuff like 'thats what we call in the business an ident'
He did say they were going to make a new featuring Oscar and Harry in the new style when they can be bothered!

Yeah he also noted it today saying 'Did you see the ITV1?' makeover (or words to that effect) then continued with 'Enough said'.
*GASP!* Just listening to Radio 4 (well, now World Service) - don't ask why - and "Uncle" Kevin Owen has just come on reading the news - at least I think its the same Kevin Owen!
An interesting feature of the show at the end of last week was that they were showing the Star Wars trailer. They stuck a picture of Oscar Puffin in the bottom corner, a bit like a DOG to prove that it was an exclusive.
It became obvious what the real reason was when a purple Entertainment Today caption came up at the bottom of the screen, they'd just taped it off GMTV and were covering up the clock!

Good on them for the idea to cover up the GMTV clock, they could have just left it. Though I'm sure they used it on another trailer of a film shownt, perhaps they take them all from GMTV.
It's been a good week so far on Puffin's Pla(i)ce, and a wierd 3:05 show today. It was filled with them mucking about, hypnotising each other, playing with the light sabre and the usual ramblings.
Plus Harry played with the light sabre, and kept wacking around bits of the set, Kevin then said he'd have words during the Jersey Royals, when they came back Kevin was on his knees behind the desk with Harry, and it looked as though Kevin was controlling him, and then he pushed him off the desk and used a trick of "Ah, he's just bitten me" to get him off his hand and over to where the person that does the puppets could get him.
Plus at the top of the show, he cut the music and said that he had some serious news (then demonstrated how the music added makes it happy, no music makes it serious), and just said after a long pause, that he's got an itch on his foot, then saying I bet you thought I was going to say something else, well there is a big news thing, for another time, I wonder whether he's leaving.
And all of this week Kevin wants to hear from viewers of Puffin's Pla(i)ce, as they weren't included in the Channel TV survey, so they want to know what viewers think of everything, the guys, Kevin, the set, the music, the titles, the show, the ideas, the features, the Jersey Royals, anything in relation with the show.

I doubt ITV would hand over time, especially with the ratings that Paul O Grady is bringing to them, no doubt they will start to take time away from CiTV then give them more.
And you can get Puffin's Pla(i)ce via Sky Digital and add channels, I live in the middle of England, and still watch it daily, ah the power of television.
