Anyone else think Paul O'Grady guesting on his own show was more to enable them to plug his book for ten minutes than for the purposes of entertainment.

Hmm... yes: Especially considering it was supposed to be his week off!

Yes, an unusual approach to plugging me thinks.

Unusual, but clever. This means he gets the time to plug his book, rather than take time from the normal show to plug it, which will reduce time for his real guests, who will also have things to plug.

I'm not sure how things are since the advertising rules were re-drawn but I suspect he wouldn't be allowed to promote his own book on a show he is presenting?

But the fact is he wasn't presenting it. Jackie Collins was. The only thing about the show that is associated to him is the name of the show... which i would expect bypasses the ruling.

Yes, I was merely pointing out that he wouldn't be able to take time from his normal show to plug it which is what adamiow had suggested.

What rule would he be breaking anyway, both Al Murrey and Harry Hill plug their books on their own shows.

I know Paul will finish this series I think on the 19th December and will return for two more series next year, in Spring and Autumn as usual.

I was wondering if Paul will sign up with Channel Four again when his contract comes up for renewal in 2009. His current contract only takes him up to this time next year.

I wonder will Channel Four try and entice him to stay for 2 more years.

The show is very popular and if he did leave there would be a big hole in the 5pm slot.

Watching tonight's show, it was nice to see Paul back, but one thing that is annoying me is how everything is being lined up as 'THE BIGGEST (something) EVER!'. Also why are more things being billed at the start, I just think it would work better if it went back to announcing the guests only.

I agree on both points

Feature weeks are dire and announcing at the start that there would be 2 guests and a feature was better

What next "Coming up, The Nodding Buster Tombola!!!" Rolling Eyes

The constant appearances of Joyce and the kids are starting to annoy me as are the compilation "Come Home To The Best" trailers in and out of the breaks. Even "Our Cilla" was back on the sofa last week (albeit with Ross Kemp not Paul but still). It's just same old, same old at the moment.

Maybe it'll pick up by Christmas, it usually does. Confused
