Good to know that his legacy will constantly live on in the form of the animated balloon and 2-car on the homepage. He will truly be missed.

I honestly think it's rather saddening news, the person who had helped many channels, including the BBC and TF1 in France, will not be forgotten by many and I hope Channel 4 at least pays respect by playing the '1982' ident again, even if it means it's been 4-5 times this year because of Bake Off's 80s theme.

R.I.P Martin Lambie Nairn, may your graphics impress even the angels above.

I never knew that Lambie-Nairn created the logo of TF1

Yes, let's hope their upcoming 2021 rebrand won't change this iconic symbol of French television.

It's survived previous rebrands so I suspect it'll live on.

Surprising BBC News didn't mention his BBC News work.

y’know, I’ve just realized: the guy hasn’t really had a good connection with ITV
like, he’s only done work for 3 franchises, and one of them is universally disliked

i wonder why this is?

God no - we'll end up stuck with them for 4 years.

The greatest tribute is actually the curves - they hark back to his work of 1991 more than any other ident set has over the last 20 years.

P.S. Good to see C4 pay tribute.

Really sad to hear of his passing. I've loved his work and like many, his work was mainly what got me interested in TV pres. I doubt we will but it would be nice if maybe on BBC Four we got a special programme about all the work he did for British TV pres.

Also love C4 for that little dedication to him just now playing one of his idents

I can only imagine the behind the scenes admin just to get this tribute done - here's the video.
