Well as I understand it he has control over the
regional
branding, and he will have been responsible for the commissioning by Tyne Tees Regional of the new ident and general TTTV branding introduced in September 2000 (this was commissioned by TTTV in January 2000 and implemented by the Ballistixx graphics team in Leeds).
However he doesn't have any direct control over the
network
branding and the old itv hearts ident will come under that category. However he probably does have some
influence
; for example he can direct the Leeds-based presentation unit to put out extra promotion for regional productions either through trailers or specific announcements. Maybe you could email him and ask him about the double logo (personally I know what he'll say; it's out of his control and the hearts idents are living on borrowed time anyway, but still....)
No regional idents, but I think ITV will change the style eventually, Blue hearts - no 'From the heart' slogan = no hearts. ITV1 don't seem to have realised that.
Maybe, as Granada have done before, they plan to introduce them before Coronation Street. I remember the last of the regional Granada idents, the blue stripe and blue/purple background, was introduced at 7.30pm on a Monday. It would be 7pm tonight, though, as Corrie is on for an hour, but that kind of fits in with what someone said about them being at 1900 but then saying it would be 6pm.
Oh sod it, Granada are useless, don't get your hopes up because there won't be a new look, they're too bloody lazy.

I think that your above bit is true though. Much as I'd like to think of an explosive ITV1 ident kicking off the new look Corrie at 7pm, I really don't think so.
Be nice though - bit like when BBC1 introduced the COW ident.
So everyone was complaining when they thought we were getting new idents, and now everyone is complaining when we arn't.
If Granada are lazy, you could also say that BBC One are lazy, for not introducing new idents at the same time as BBC Two, or Carlton, as they have had their idents longer than the ITV Hearts...

We either get the guy who sounds like he's half asleep (the one you heard today) or alternatively the shrill-voiced Maggie who sounds like Anne Robinson who's just run out of Prozac...
I still say though that I'd rather have some regional identity (the hearts) than what has been proposed here (although I have to say it's all looking more and more implausible by the minute!). A generic itv1 ident is not the saviour of humanity when it comes to GMG, it's just another excuse for Leeds to become even lazier.
Did you all see and hear the announcement used at 7pm on the GMG North stations tonight?
Still the ITV Hearts, but the announcement was quality - Full Lines used as well!

Well Nick Harvey seems pretty confidant of a February 1st relaunch in the thread about Calendar Lunchtime Live. He also seems to think they're we're set to have a far more regional style of presentation. What on Earth could he mean, and how would he know a thing like that?
Well I think one thing is clear, no matter how many so called 'insiders' come on here, nobody actually knows what is going on with ITV1 idents. In the meantime we can speculate all we like, but Andrew is right, everybody slated ITV yet the rumours weren't even true, and now people seem disappointed. Some people on here are so very fickle.
