Looks like there was no proper acknowledgement of the new week's ident at 6 this morning - just a generic "Now, Good Morning Britain."

It was a different announcer than usual this morning, I usually hear him introducing Coronation Street rather than GMB. As continuity announcers write their own script, it may be that the acknowledgment of the ident is entirely the brainchild of the usual announcer.

You would expect them to be briefed to acknowledge the new idents. Even though they write their own links, they are given instructions as to which programmes to “point”, ie. promote, and this sounds like something they would be instructed to mention.

Indeed, they write their own scripts but Media Planning will direct them in what to promote.

Was it that ‘yoof’ announcer who was on over the weekend, who always goes into the ITV News as if it’s exciting new series.

Thank the lord for the Jullian Simmons of this world, I dont have to endure the awful 'yoof innit bruv' announcers ITV insist on employing these days.

Just a note that the first ident as shown yesterday played out with the second ident's music before GMB this morning.

Very out of touch, and where has this new guy said 'bruv'? A bit of a stereotype, but I'll say nothing more to that.

The main difference between 'old school' traditional announcers like UTV's Jullian and Gillian, compared to the new breed of much younger voices heard on ITV and C4 is the delivery of the lines, the scripts, the tone and pace of voice and the way they pronounce things etc.

Jullian for example uses the same old scrips time after time and the same delivery and tone of an announcement using long drawn out sentences i.e. "In an hour you can enjoy our shuttle board game show tipping point bla bla bla now though it's......" then whatever show it is.

Compare that to the much more short, snappy and as pointed out here over excited tone of voices and overall delivery of the announcements coming from more recent ITV/C4 announcers....very very different to the traditional old school style of announcing once heard on the ITV regions pre 2002 and still heard to a extent these days on UTV/STV.

And don’t just single out ITV & Channel 4, BBC One has some announcers who sound like that as well now.

Plus I think it's nice that younger people are taking on the job of being a CA.

I fully support a 67 year old still going to work in Belfast to record announcements and long may it continue.

I don’t care who does it! Young or old.

Just a general comment about how chat goes on here sometimes.
