Never understood the point of the news beat website when it basically just seems to be a random selection of youth focussed stories that get that page design, linked to from the main site.
I will miss the BBC News Magazine though, lots of interesting stories to read at lunchtime over the years
Another cut is that there won't be any regional news stories except for those featured on the live feed.
The BBC is making cuts in all the wrong places as per usual, ring fencing the most mainstream commercial BBC1 programmes, axing unique content whether on the radio, lesser channels, in News or online.

The youth hit again with Newsbeat going whilst the dross served up by BBC Three online lives on.

Newsbeat really annoys me. Whats the stop 'youth' reading ordinary news stories? Why must it be in a seperate section of the website in a very simplistic tone?

No, it's cutting the services which the government and its commercial rivals don't want them to be doing. Why should the BBC be doing local news on the website when we can look at the various local newspaper websites. Why have travel news presented clearly, simply and freely when we can pay various companies to make it difficult to access. Why have youth news when the likes of buzzfeed are struggling to get advertisers.
None of these cuts are simply about the budget, reducing the BBC's scope, and preventing it from competing with commercial companies is a key part of it.

Young people don't want full, in depth stories, just headlines and then the details.
Yet another reason for young people to give up with the BBC. What does the BBC offer somebody aged 21 anymore? Not much (and certainly not £144 worth).

Don't they? Have you asked them?

Well considering I myself fit into this age group and many of my friends would agree, I would say young people don't want in depth news reports.

I also fit into this age group. I like in depth news reports and many of my friends would agree. Of course some young people don't want in depth news but couldn't the same be said for any age group?

Newsbeat catered for those young people who wanted brief news, others are happy with the normal BBC News site. What BBC services are left for young people? BBC Three is a shadow of its former self, Radio 1 is the only thing specifically targeting young people.

I guess I'm in the minority. I frequently spend hours reading articles that are ten pages long.
