Oh for goodness sake, they're not trying to be imaginative!

You're on one hand saying that the background shouldn't be the focal point, but on the other asking that there's some sort of innovative set! Maybe they're focussing on the content rather than the style? In which case I think some 'designer sofas' would suffice.

I think my major concern is the number of times I have heard - and publicly I should add - the phrase "state of the art studios". It looks fairly nice (though the floor-to-wall flooring not only looks mighty odd but will get old very quickly) but I'd hardly call floor-to-ceiling windows of London a "state of the art studio", so I'm hoping there is more to it than we've so far seen.

And that desk is peculiar.

well of course in the press releases, ITV are going to make out that it's the best studio's in the world. There not going to say just " in a new studio."The only problem is that by doing this everyone on here at least, expects it to be the best show ever and then are left dissapointed come launch day.

Although as I've already said I really like the new studio, what we can see that is! I'd say 90% of the responses on here has been positive , which is quite a hard thing to manage, what with everyones diffrerent opinions.

I'd agree that it's hard - and rare - for a set to receive such positive responses on TVF prior to launch - I just hope people aren't let down when more is revealed and it's seen onscreen.

And my problem with "state of the art studio" is it implies they've created something uncommonly used. "Stunning new studio overlooking the Thames", "Multi-million pound city studio" or "Modern, vibrant set" would all have done quite nicely, without being misleading.

Then again, it's possible the sofa actually doubles up as some sort of bizarre touch-screen display, the floor can become an indoor fireworks display and the windows can be removed to allow Adrian Chiles to take a morning swim. If this is the case then I retract my statement. Smile

I was just waiting for the usual outcry's of "It's hideous" "I hate it " etc.
Although for us lot it's great to see pic's etc before launch, i sometimes wish that we didn't see it anything at all until launch day, becuause that way we wouldn't have pre-determined views on the finished product and are therefore as you say "let down"

To be fair, it would have proberbly been more accurate do describe it as some of you examples.

Although the studio, like you say could be something like out of a James Bond movie, i don't think you'll be having to retract your statement anytime soon! Wink

I'm still intrigued to what those persex type rectangles are either side of the sofa's - does anyone have any idea what they are?

There was a wooden step ladder off to (our) left in one picture, so clearly the set isn't fully finished yet. But those panels are surely supposed to be there or they'd have been moved prior to press photos, so I have no idea what they're there for if not still to be nailed down to something.

I'd guess it must be part of some sort of technology, or still under construction, because I have no idea why else they'd be there. Anyone else have any ideas?

But they don't, surely?

Well obviously it's subjective, but not every piece of design has to have a function.
