Strictly also lost Rylan to isolation around the time Katya had to withdraw and for a few days it looked like things were falling apart there too.

You had Motsi too that fortnight as she had to travel back to Germany and Anton joined the judging panel but apart from that Strictly was extremely lucky and DOI hasn't to be honest. Not a massive fan of DOI but you get a couple of Covid cases and injuries and people are hammering them when it isn't really their fault.

It’s easy to forget that Strictly had a few Covid cases. It’s probably worse for DOI because they’ve already had two injuries along with the Covid withdrawals contestant wise.

Myleene Klass (the first boot) was moaning in the papers last week that she was injured too.

Denise and others complained pre launch about the lack of ice rinks available due to Covid.
The lack of pre training is definitely showing and is likely the cause of the injuries.
In hindsight I suspect ITV are probably wishing they rested it for a year.

You think? What would they have aired instead? The show is on air. They would have planned for all this.

Well they're currently airing Celebrity Catchphrase on Saturday at 6pm (with zero ads, due to the ad quota) which easily could have been paired with the Chase etc on Sunday. Dancing on Ice isn't setting the ratings world alight so there wouldn't have been much difference in viewing figures.
I doubt even in their worst case scenario did they expect this many injuries and dropouts.

Does anyone know with Dancing on Ice for 2021 just doesn't feel the same compared to previous series, it surely can not all be about the pandemic causing problems?

I have read opinions from fans who say the spark has gone from the show, and it started last year. I am not a regular watcher, does anyone agree or have a feeling it needs to be put to rest once more, like X Factor?

The spark hasn't been there since it returned.

ITV probably wouldn't do it but it might be an option for them to have a new production team/company to produce the next series. They must be a label within ITV Studios or are a creative partner that would be willing to take it on.

You just have to laugh. That might give them the excuse to skip an elimination tonight but they'd need to cut the show down to an hour really, or 90 minutes at a stretch, or have all couples also perform their skate off routine which I think has happened before actually.

So if for whatever reason they go through with the elimination tonight AND Jason leaves, we will be down to... 5 couples with 5 weeks to fill. Great going so far.

I mean, the closest ITV could show to replace DOI is Vera since that 90 minutes long however I dont think ITV would show that at an early timeslot of 6pm. They could still show it by move Millionaire to 6pm and some hour long drama an hour later.
