I did notice that the in-studio clock seemed to be a bit more accurate this month. Last month it said 10pm before the show finished!.

Talking about technical problems, the lottery draw was cetainly interesting and showed up how recorded it is.

If you didn't see it, all the on screen graphics failed so when Alan read the numbers in numerical order there were the usual sound effects and cheering but nothing on screen. Eammon then linked in and out of the draws as if nothing was going wrong!

I don't think the Wednesday draw IS pre-recorded. The Saturday one is - because that's a game show in its own right. But the draw and thereafter is live. If the draw itself were to fail, you'd expect Eammon to takeover. The failure of on-screen graphics isn't particularly easy or worth mentioning really.

This was one of the interesting things I picked up on when I did the TV Centre tour a few years back/

The draws themselves are all live, but the game show element of the Saturday draw is pre-recorded. They use the "jingle" part to mix between the recorded and live elements, during the broadcast.

Unless it's changed since 2002 though.

I don't think all of the game show parts are pre-recorded - Jet Set, for example, must be live due to the nature of the show.

Also the cheering you hear during the draws are pre-recorded - in fact they are filmed in front of an independent panel of only about 10 people!

The draw must always be live. Fact. In the case of Jet Set, everything up to the draw is pre-recorded. Eammon says it's draw time, then da da da it's live. The sting is played, the draw happens. After the draw, the second part of the game show after the draw is also live, because the numbers are dependent upon it. The happy audience is also recorded.

CRIMEWATCH!

There!

I just thought I'd be the first to mention it in this rather oddly named thread!

...as is the bit during the end credits with the winner running to the limo.

Ah yes! I wasn't sure of that until the other week. The link to the faraway exotic destination was lost, so Eammon looked like he was having fun talking to a still image instead... until the link miraculously re-appeared in time for the credits! If I were in charge that night, I'd have left it out just to make it seem a bit more plausible... though I suppose having to put up with tinned audience would drive you nuts long before that anyway.

Back to Crimewatch and there were problems with it last night. It was broadcasting to my 4:3 television in widescreen, only to jump back to normal halfway through the progrsmme.
