He’s right. Everything should be in Comic Sans. Job done.

Imaging the overwhelming praise the BBC would have got from the Daily Mail if instead of Reith they'd gone for Comic Sans.

Is this the same DVDFever who puts his huge logo on all the videos he uploads to YouTube that he doesn't own the rights to? I'm not surprised he doesn't understand font licensing...

Yes, clearly as the head of world’s most revered public broadcaster, the DG should have just spent five minutes on Da Font and picked the first nice one he saw.

BBC Reith sounds so smug. It's like a mix of Arial and Times New Roman anyway. I wonder how many millions of our licence fees went to pay for creating that? Many, I reckon. Why bother trying to do anything cheap when the public are paying for it.

Out of interest, how many millions of license fees do you *think* went to pay for it? Are you suggesting that it cost them at least £150million?

A rough guess would be £5-10m. I never even heard of licencing fonts before. There's so many of them, you'd think an option was a free one. Besides, whenever redesigning something is involved, it never comes cheap as they'll have consultants and outsourcing and so on. The BBC don't need to do it on the cheap because there's us to pay for it, whatever the cost, and if it costs more than planned, then that's why far too much of the schedule is repeats.

It costs money to keep re-licensing fonts, designing a bespoke corporate typeface reduces this dramatically in the long run. It's not 'smug' as you put it.

It's 2019 - we don't need experts, or people who know what they're talking about or how much things actually cost or why things are really done. Just opinions. Lots of uninformed opinions.

And there endeth any right you had to an opinion on the matter!

How does DVDfever think these font companies make money, by just letting anyone use their designs for free?

That's how the country's being run right now, after all.

If you've never heard of font licensing then "rough guess" doesn't really come close to covering it. "Completely random number" would be more like it.

Many, I reckon .

Well there we are. Send us your reckons, indeed.
