Worth noting that the initial 1998 ident was nothing compared to the package that followed quite soon after:

All the idents were quite sparse both in terms of visual and audio. They really hit their stride from 1999 onwards.

I'd definitely say after the September 1998 refresh, when they introduced the CGI version of the new logo:

Did a quick mock to see whether the current ITV logo was workable in the 98 logo.

I always thought that the May 1998 ident/stings package was an in house production for the soft launch during the half term before the full package was ready for the Autumn. That May 1998 package did have a brilliant score to it.

The September 1998 package isn’t as fondly remembered as the 1999, but the opening (under 5’s), closing and weekend spiked ident are all wonderful pieces of animation.

The only examples I can find of the under 5’s and over 5’s 1998 idents are at the start of these videos (which also contain wonderful programme memories from around that period too):

I used to love the Children's ITV Stonewall idents from 1989-1991, especially the last package they used. In fact, I remember recording all of them at the time as the various backgrounds and CGI animations of stick men walking past and balloons were all different. Also, the green electrical charge, the central part of the logo, used to form differently for each ident. In fact, the flashing different sized brightly coloured wording on screen saying "See you next week" and the various wipes used in and out of programmes were all amazing during the Stonewall era. As were the presenters, Jeanne Downes and Scally were always game for a laugh. I remember this era of Children's ITV vividly.

When Jeanne Downes and Scally left and Central took control again and Tommy Boyd returned, I thought the ident package looked fairly old fashioned and limp compared to the previous package and the theme in a minor key sounded depressing. It was a shame when the 1991 logo was modified and tinkered with for subsequent idents for the no in-vision continuity years and the word "Children's" was also dropped from the logo. I feel the overall afternoon's playout became very "childish" after Tommy Boyd and Glenn Kinsey left - in both the CITV presentation and the quality of programmes that were churned out. The CITV town - what the hell was THAT about?? It was only in 1998 that the quality returned.

Definitely, the 1989-1991 ident era was the best in my opinion.

Was this when they changed the jingle to the newer version Sep 1998?

I always remember this song, but can't find the correct longer version with the singer above

it went something like "with Tilly Tom and Tiny, Tots 1,2 and 3"
