Much, much better. Like it, though I agree it'd look better positioned somewhere else on the screen, like halfway down on the left hand side...

Which would effectively mean the closure of BBC4, which wouldn't go down too well. I think the BBC having four mainstream channels is about right, they have to have at least that many in order to shore up viewing share and have any hope of competing in the multi-channel world.

merging 2 and 4 would be the sensible approach - from a viewing perspective.

But if you put the same content on BBC2, surrounded by some of BBC2's popular factual stuff, BBC 4 content would get bigger audiences - a win win?

but is that the terms BBC4 exists for? ratings?
BBC4 is home to some of the best and most worthy shows on telly, its a shame not that many people watch it but thats not a reason to scrap it.

I'm willing to stick my neck out and say if we don't see any changes during the 6pm junction we won't be seeing any today. As I said earlier, primetime this evening is dominated by special idents and it would seem odd to launch new trail styles, etc without accompanying idents. Having said that, stranger things have happened today on Two.

wonder if Janice Hadlow can turn BBC Two back to what it once was - the BBC's home for serious and thoughful TV.
