Is it possible that the idents are simply variants of what is effectively the last 8 seconds or so of that trailer, i.e. with shots of people celebrating Christmas and the usual 'o' of the 'one' landing on them to form the BBC one logo?

It's possible (or slightly longer than the bits seen in the idents), by the hints we've had so far.. but still, I wouldn't be so certain about it

Could the background theme of the 'Christmas TV 2016' website and social media be a clue? I guess it's possible they could go with the 2013 approach, and just use a 'plain and simple' ident.

Something tells me this year they won't go that way.. as I said before, the "real people" way is more likely, especially going by the comments on Twitter

That promo is looking good, very modern and different for BBC One.

That's so boring and generic. Again, people doing things with a logo slapped on top. It could've come from an advert for any supermarket or department store.

I hate this never ending trend.

It reminds me of an ad for Tesco or something like that, it's true Very Happy

The thing that makes it "more BBC" probably is the "inclusive" gay kiss

It seems very clear that the BBC Christmas ident launch will be this evening. BBC2 has begun using the Christmas endboards and Christmas branded boxed logo.

Well, I like it. It demonstrates different ways that people come together at Christmas, I actually applaud the two gay men kissing scene. Christmas in the 21st Century is reflected quite acurately in that film. I suspect many will complain, but I think it's much better than Sprout Boy.

Well to be fair, the past few years haven't been 'slapped on'. This is actually different, feels like a film.

People will never be happy.

I agree this time, I was just joking with that Tesco reference

I like it, although I wouldn't put it against the Sprout Boy.. they're just two different and respectable things

With the use of Gill Sans, it could easily be a John Lewis advert.
