BBC Spotlight have changed their cover photo on their Facebook page to this which looks like it could be from the end of the ident (or at least the news version) -

Spot the difference:

Laaaate Laughing

It definitely looks something "simpler" compared to last year

..except that I posted in a way that keeps everything undisclosed, unless someone wants to click on the spoiler. The wording of the link you gave gives everyone info they may not want to see Razz

Those feel distinctly underwhelming and unimaginative. Though I'm aware we haven't seen the whole ident yet.

Oh dear, is it an advert for John Lewis? half of the ad shows people outside, nothing to do with BBC/ One.

Hope the ident are not as bad as this. Expected it might be "modern".

That ident could just be a news variant. I'm assuming they've created multiple idents again this year.

It reminds me of an ad for Tesco or something like that, it's true Very Happy

The thing that makes it "more BBC" probably is the "inclusive" gay kiss

Though let's not forget Lloyds Bank had a gay marriage proposal in its ad this year. The BBC isn't breaking new ground in this respect.

I think the promo video is great. It doesn't look very BBC (which is probably why I like it) but is very on trend with what companies do with their Christmas adverts these days - people spending time together, the "John-Lewising" of a well-known song, all that sort of stuff.

Glad they've got 2 fellas kissing, but it kind of feels like they're making a point with it rather than casually dropping it in. It seems to linger on it just a bit too long compared to everything else.

Could the background theme of the 'Christmas TV 2016' website and social media be a clue? I guess it's possible they could go with the 2013 approach, and just use a 'plain and simple' ident.

Maybe it will be something like 1990.

BBC1's trailer endboard probably, but not the idents.
