Not a huge surprise, doesn't it usually happen on a Saturday before Strictly every year?
I think last year or maybe the last two years it's been a weekday with The One Show "switching on the lights".
That was in 2012. It launched on Tuesday December 11th at 7.30pm after a disastrous One Show promotion where a Christmas trail was projected on the walls of television centre. It was so foggy the projection couldn't be seen by the viewer. So, after an underwhelming One Sghow promotion we then had the underwhelming curtain ident straight afterwards! Since 2002, and apart from 2012, it has always launched on a Saturday.
So, any guesses as to who gets the honour of launching the ident this weekend? It was Delroy last year, I think it was Peter Offer in 2012 and it was Delroy in 2011. Who is it in 2014?
It's all a bit silly though isn't it! If they need to wait until Saturday for the trails, what's the point of advertising programmes for Christmas Eve, New Year's Day and Boxing Day by using standard, unfestive endboards? Either wait until Saturday or launch the trails properly.

Well yesterday, BBC ONE Northern Ireland (accidentally?) aired the BBC Music Awards 2014 trail with the festive end board. However, several junctions later, they showed the trail again but with the standard end board design.
