Perhaps to try and steal some audience from BBC Breakfast and GMB who wouldn't otherwise venture so high up the EPG (especially if they turn their TV on and it's still on Sky 1 from the night before).

Also it's cheap.

Basically, what he said.

I did not know Joey Jones had left.

Sunrise has been simulcasted on a number of channels over the years has it not? Hasn't it been on Sky 1 before and not done great ratings wise?

It is a good idea, but they should do a promotional push.

Yes, though I can't recall whether it was the entire three hours. The thing you have to remember, though, is that Sky1's reach has grown exponentially even over the last five years, to the point where those who stuck with Freeview for a long time or simply couldn't get it were either convinced to make the switch to Sky or Virgin, or did so out of necessity because the DTT signal in their area post-switchover left a lot to be desired.

They did it a few years in the late 2000's but stopped. I guess it works out cheaper than putting on repeats to a tiny audience. Sky1 has never really had a breakfast show and genre that has lasted. Such as The Chris Evans Show, Morning Glory, and even The Simpsons.

Morning Glory? That was the pilot title for RI:SE wasn't it?

I believe you are correct, however the Sky1 version ran until the end of 1997 but it played back to back music videos from 6-9am, just after 6 hours of Hit Mix Long Play.

The closest thing that Sky ever had to a breakfast show was the morning version of DJ Kat, which ran from 6am to 8.30am, back in the early days. The 5am hour of Sky News would be simulcasted before that, along with the 11pm hour later on. DJ Kat lasted a number of years on the channel, but since then, nothing has worked for them really.

Was technically a wrapper though, and filled with various other shows interspersed with video links as opposed to a full-blown show in its own right. Though I suppose that's no different to how CBBC/CITV operate(d).

Quite true, but the shows within it were never listed separately, in the schedule. It was always just listed as "The DJ Kat Show"

Hmm, learn something new every day. Thought they were separately listed, not covered under the DJ Kat umbrella.

Anyone know how the new building is progressing since Kay's Periscope? Is it likely to be launched or featured during the Referendum Coverage as I thought she said it would be ready around that time.
