I recall on Eurovision day two years ago, the same day same sex marriage was legalised in Ireland, the News was also on RTÉ2 at 9pm, that must be the only time that's happened recently.
Indeed. There was also a short bulletin - what is called an "extended summary" - after the Eurovision.

There appears to be a Live Nine O Clock News going out on RTE News Now at... 8.45pm. Now that might not be correct as in past listings for that channel haven't been changed from week to week. They won't put the News on RTE 2 unless something major happens on the day. Ratings come first and they don't want to knock back Eurovision any further. RTE have not been too fond of that Saturday Night Bulletin in recent times.
Indeed I have seen one listing saying 910pm and the EPG on Saorview doesn't mention a bulletin at all so I think it's saturday before we'll know the situation

According to the RTÉ Entertainment website TV listings, RTÉ News Now will simulcast Euronews from 9:00 p.m. on the night of the Eurovision.

RTE showed coverage of the resignation of Enda Kenny as leader of Fine Gael on the 17th from five o'clock to five forty. There was also a Prime Time Special after the Nine O'Clock News.
There's no News Special or Prime Time scheduled on Friday (when the leadership election ends), but I bet there will be one, as the leadership election will decide not just who's the next leader of Fine Gael, but our next Taoiseach.

Will RTE News be providing extensive coverage of the UK election on June 8th? I remember in the 2010 election, Bryan Dobson anchored RTE's news coverage from the BBC Television Centre, in the Match of the Day studio TC5. I don't know what they did for the 2015 election, did they have a London studio rented out for them?

Coverage starts on 8 June at 11:25 p.m. and on until 4:00 a.m. There'll be an hour-long special on the following morning at 9:00.

They'll tack on an extra Half hour or Hour onto Tonight with Vincent Browne but that will be all I would think.
And I would guess TV3 in Ireland just ignore the election apart from their bulletins?

There's no special VB scheduled at the moment, but there might be one, depending on how major the result is.
Anyway, there's now a News Special scheduled for tomorrow at 4:40 pm. There's no Prime Time scheduled at the moment.

I was Commenting on the General election rather than the election of the new leader of Fine Gael. In the past any extension to Tonight with Vincent Browne was done on very short notice.
As for The Fine Gael Election tomorrow, over the past 10 years World War 3 could start on a Friday at 6pm and TV3 wouldn't report it until Monday Morning (if it wasn't a Bank Holiday!). Now that it's under new ownership at least there will be reports in later bulletins, but I'd be surprised if they pushed the boat out.
