A good sign really as we're almost halfway through January. Blimey, it's going too quick!
"Late January" as they say is coming close, so we are not far off from the new look. Not long to wait.
Well, I reckon they'll keep the blue. Or they'll maybe ditch it in favour of a more "serious" colour
They are planning to make the news desk smaller and create a new presentation area in the studio, we might see a sofa area in the studio. Like what they had in BBC Newsnight and BBC Breakfast sets, just on a much smaller scale.
Just watching RTE Nine O'Clock News and the lighting of the guest interview in the studio is appalling. It is as if the bulb has gone, the guest being interviewed is in semi darkness.
I wonder has composer Ronan Hardiman been commissioned again to compose the new signature theme tune for the revamp? He was commissioned for the last two O’Domhnaill abú themes, will it be updated version or a completely new theme?
So will Monday 28th January be the date for the unveiling of the new RTE News studio?
If this is the case, studio rehearsals will have been taking place this week. I think if my memory serves me right, the tender process papers as posted earlier on this thread stated the studio would have to be available 6 days prior to on air launch. This would be to give time for staff rehearsals and technical training, so staff would have moved into studio 3 on Tuesday of this week.
It will be interesting to see if there is any press releases in newspapers prior to the launch possibly in the Sunday or Monday morning newspapers. The last relaunch in 2014 The Irish Independent did a online news article on the Saturday afternoon just before the semi relaunch was unveiled on the Six One on Sat 24th April 2014.

I had a look at my Saorview EPG earlier tonight. It said the RTÉ One O'Clock News will be back to it's 30 minute schedule as usual from this Monday. It should have the relaunch at any time between this weekend or Monday. They probably will do a weekend relaunch again like they did back in April 2014. Hopefully they will have Studio 3 resembles something like a modern & functional news room once they have it finished.

Hard job trying to bring something fresh and new to such a small space, 1,300 Sq Ft at the most. Hope they have done a good job. RTE is the national broadcaster, and €1.7 million it really does not have to waste, I hope has been used properly and wisely.
No change for the One anyway. Though I noticed there were no short bulletins this morning (maybe there are none on Saturday mornings any more and I didn’t notice them being done away with!).
Well the Six-One News is just the same at the moment in the temporary studio. Ray Kennedy is presenting. He was the presenter for the 2014 relaunch I believe when it launched at their Saturday main evening news.
RTE Main Evening News is at 9.20pm tonight - we will see if RTE do what they did back in 2014, and have Ray Kennedy present the first RTE News from the new look Studio 3. I wonder if it will happen?
