I didn't realize that Aengus McGrianna had his final bulletin tonight. He will be missed from RTÉ News.

Brian Finn presenting the Nine tonight, hadn’t seen him before.

The reason Brian is there tonight is because an Irish male suspect is in court for doing harassment on Sharon Ní Bheolain.

Perhaps, but I posted that on Bank Holiday Monday.

Whoops. My mistake.

Back to today though on the Six-One. It had a technical issue over sound problems with Martina Fitzgerald outside Leinster House.

I heard a bit of Sophie Raworth's voice doing the BBC News at 6 when Catriona Perry was attempting to link up with Martina.

I didn't know this was the new routine for Nuacht RTÉ. They have improvised the graphics by including both RTÉ & TG4 logo's at the start of the bulletin while also using the new studio for Nuacht TG4. It is such a big contrast to RTÉ News at Studio 3 in Montrose.

It looks great via RTÉ One HD on Saorview.

It's very much in the TG4 style rather than the RTE News style, which differentiates it from the rest of the RTE News output.

Don't know about weekends, but on weekdays, Nuacht airs live at 5pm on RTE News Now, with the 5:40 airing on RTE One also airing on RTE News Now, so it gets two complete airings in the space of 50 minutes on the same channel. A little bit overkill really.

It’s not just in the TG4 style - Nuacht TG4 and what is now “Nuacht TG4 le RTE” have almost exactly the same look now. The only differences are the title card, the end cap and the presenter.

This has been talked about for a good while, and while it makes sense for the two bulletins to have the same look since they are coming from the same place and made by the same production team, there was seemingly a disagreement between RTÉ and TG4 over what branding would be used on the RTE One bulletin that held up its implementation.

Edit: Seemingly it launched last Monday. Here’s a press release about it (scroll down to see the English version)

Here is a look at the new titles for Nuacht.

There is another new promotional video for RTÉ News & Current Affairs that I watched on RTÉ recently.

Don’t know if this is for all RTE productions or just the news, but tonight’s Nine ended with a new endcap with a “Supported by your Licence Fee” animation.

That endcap has been there on their news bulletins throughout the week. It appears that I have only seen this on the news so far. I have not seen it on other productions of RTÉ as of yet.
