Well if Barbara Plett can be given a hard time for shedding a tear why not Mr. Lewis? They exploit as much emotion as they can out of stories anyway, can't help but chuckle when it backfires.

If I remember correctly, Plett was reporting in the Middle East where there are conflicts going on. As a BBC journalist, she shouldn't show her personal feelings when she's reporting - she ought to reflect both sides of the story equally. However, with Lewis, we're talking about a much-loved person dying. I think there's a slight difference Rolling Eyes . I doubt people would be offended by him showing emotion with that event...after all, as James said, he's only human.

IIRC Dermot Murnaghan showed similar strains to control his emotions when announcing the news on ITV. I don't think we can expect people to be devoid of emotion when they are announcing something on live tv, however professional they normally are.
