BBC NE&C compiled their own "30 Years of Breakfast" report by Colin Briggs, which was transmitted during the bulletin.
Showing archive clips of Tom Kilgour, Wendy Gibson and Mike Neville - and plenty of behind-the-scenes footage. And Colin insisting he prefers shirt sleeves to fluffy jumpers.
They also reconstructed the old Breakfast Time titles and ran them on the Barcos leading into the report.

Does Wendy Gibson still work for BBC NE&C?

Unless she works behind the scenes, I've not seen her on presenting or reporting duties for a while. Malia and Dawn Thewlis aside; Sharon Baa-baa, Steph Cleasby, Sharuna Sagar or the lovely Charlie Charlton who read news bulletins these days.

Have to say i've really enjoyed Pam and Tim this week. I've said before that I thought they were good pairing only beaten by Ian and Philippa - when she was around. I see Ian is away on a skiing holiday - was he about the only 'main' regional news presenter off this week? flicking around seems as though pretty much most of the 'main' presenters were there all week.
I wonder if it wasn't a bad thing Ian being off. Maybe a small ploy for the likes of Border having their 'stalwart' fronting the programme this week just to ensure the off chance people thing with new titles etc it means less local news... (which 1 or 2 have asked me).
One MAJOR gripe every night this week has been the VERY stilted finish... The very scripted poor mans NAT Closer "xx and xx is here with the national news next, from all the team here, good bye and thanks for joining us"

One thing that I'm not liking,q which has been happening for a while now, Border stories are appearing in the Tyne Tees only section and I assume visa versa. It's not good, surely there should be in the contract that they can't do it? What's the point in having the opt outs if there going to filled in with stories not from that area?
KP
Don't know what you really mean there... If you mean within the 15 minute opt out... ONLY way a story that might get covered Is if there is a connection... a person from TT region and something has happened in Cumbria etc...
If you are on about the top of the show at 6pm being a 'border story' usually that mean's it is a pan-regional start and they split at 6.05 for the same 15ish mins. However I have noticed a few times more recently opt outs finishing (when split at 6) after 12 or 13 mins only.

Yes I so mean within the 'Opt Out' if that wasn't clear enough. And yeah I know about the pan-regional starts, you can always tell due to the background. But no BORDER reports are appearing in the Tyne Tees opt out- with no link at all!

Only times i've seen 'irrelevant to some' TT stories on Border and vice versa is possibly it's something 'bigger' that was read out originally on a Pan-Regional start and on following days and weeks if there is news to it it's given a mention on 1/both opts for continuity sakes...
Example from a long time back was the Raoul Moat thing. For weeks and weeks Lookaround would still have reports on it in their opt although the incident is out the Border region (albeit just). Because for a week or so it was pan-regional shows they kept up the aftermath on both shows opts - with Tyne Tees (obviously) spending more time than Border on it.

Well I'm not lying?! It does happen and yes time like this I see the relevance. I understand that but there was a few times just recently something from John Bevir regarding a top office dog award for a dog in Dumfries! But it happens from time to time! Obviously you can't see every edition of both NET & Lookaround.

To back up Sierra Oscar's comment, that report (by Ryan Dollard, not John Bevir, but that's by the by) was shown in the "North East Tonight" part of a recent 6.00pm programme.
Some of Tyne Tees' staff are off-screen at present (e.g. Jonny Blair is on secondment to ITN), so it may have been a case of using a story with pan-regional appeal to fill the available time in the opt-out.
