Report here about the Meridian blog, quite interesting

AWOL... that is interesting.

I think it's fair to say Meridian Tonight has died on its backside. Most of the last programme I saw consisted of how fantastic Kate Winslet is for winning an Oscar and coming from a theatre school in Berkshire. Sorry, but that isn't news.

I appreciate they're trying their level best with the pan-regional situation but it's just not working I'm afraid.

I thought that train journey with the PM was a bit odd...I wonder how many passengers had a go at Fred about the changes at Meridian ?!

Couldn't agree with you more, basically ten minutes on pancake day and the water story which I assume was on both sides of the region. Also they promoted the fat suit story on Friday and Sunday and when yesterday came it couldn't be featured.

Hmm well there's no need for that sort of reply - that's abusive and unnecessary. Although 'Fred Dinosaurage' has a ring about it.

Why to people say "I'm switching to the BBC?" now for local news?

I'm in Bournemouth and don't give a toss about stories from Reading and Basingstoke. South Today has always covered this area, but Meridian Tonight never did...

....but now they do... and people are switching to what originally was a less lcoal product?

Don't quite get the logic.

I dont think its so much that they care about whats on the BBC regional news, its as a protest against ITV.

Exactly it is for that reason I think. Of course ITV will never give a castlemaine XXXX. Grade has to be from another planet IMO where repeats of Neighbours are more important (his idea) and 'relevant' or whatever word it was he used in Sept 2007 than local news

Couldn't agree with you more - the programme has fallen by the way-side - it's not a news programme anymore, everything has been dumbed down.
I never see my favorites anymore, people who were great at there jobs. What's happened to people like reporters David Glencorse, Holly Lewis, Glen Thompsett, Ian Axton - we're now left with very lightweight people. I used to watch regularly at 6 to my ITV regional news programme, but now I'm afraid to say the magnetism has gone. Sorry - it all very poor!!

Dinenage presented the long-running educational show How and its successor How 2, while new weatherman Hickson was one half of the comedy duo Trevor and Simon who were best known for their work on Saturday morning shows Going Live and Live & Kicking.

Hahahahaha!!!! Best thing I've seen in ages! Talk about getting your facts straight! Laughing

Although judging by the state of the programme, they may as well have Trevor and Simon doing the weather! "Hallloooooo! That's right Trevor...rain and wind.. oh pardon me..have you ever stroked a weasel?!" Laughing
