There is something odd about that end shot but I have no idea what makes it odd. Hmmm...

It's in colour?

Very Happy

Most/all of the colour clips (in those regions that now have them) do have some sort of "effect" added to the picture quality, which to me makes them look sort of like a cross between real footage and a watercolour painting.

The first image looked like a clock tower or something. Maybe the one in Aylesbury? (Hurrah, recognition of Buckinghamshire!)

Correction, the first image of the new ST Oxford titles looks like some sort of factory chimney type structure. I've no idea what or where it is.

Tonight's final report on the Oxford sub-opt was about hens/chickens at a farm in Banbury being given high visibility jackets to wear!

Jerome Sale's closing link before handing over to Sally Taylor was something like "Rumours that tomorrow night we'll be reporting about hamsters in wellies are unfounded"! I love Jerome's humorous outros.

2: Swanage-Bournemouth car ferry.

Well, you can achieve that route with it, but it's actually commonly known as the 'Sandbanks Chain Ferry'. The BBC national news are not using the correct pronunciation of Chesil Beach,
I'm glad Chris Evans (of all people) has flagged the comical incorrect pronunciation on his radio show this morning.

What is the incorrect pronunciation they're using? The one listed on Wikipedia seems obvious enough to me.

They were pronouncing it as 'Chiz-well', correct pronunciation is 'Chizzile'

Better than Sunday, when BBC South reporter Sarah Farmer was astoned and announced several times as Sarah Palmer.

Ah, that differs from Wikipedia's suggestion of:

'ch' in china, short 'e' in bed, 'z' in zebra, 'e' in roses, and 'l' in lie
Which is how I pronounced it when I first saw it.

The factory at the beginning is Bliss Mill in Chipping Norton. The other locations are: Oxford City Skyline, Reading Station, Oxford Covered Market, Henley-on-Thames, Aylesbury and The Fine Lady, Banbury.

Cheers for info. Funny how they generally treat Henley-on-Thames as part of the patch, when it absolutely isn't covered by the Beckley transmitter footprint, as far as I'm aware. (Ditto for High Wycombe).

Is a new version of short titles now being used on the late bulletin on ST? Anyone got a vid?

It's also not just a straight pasting of the South East Today music on the main titles - you can hear a sample from the previous music most prominently at 0:32 in the above video. (SET link for comparison)

I think thats what I don't like, the mix of the two means an extra key change that's too quick and to my hear sounds weird.

Is it that the top bit of the rear and right hand fake newsrooms changes to red for no reason? I've always been puzzled by that.

The end closing shot I mean.

EDIT: I think it is the way the camera moves, I'm used to static shots on Reporting Scotland so it may be that.

Despite the odd change in the newsroom backdrop, I think that's quite a nice close - it's warm and friendly and generally quite good looking too.

Ah, I thought you meant the titles.

Actually, many say 'Chezzile rather than 'Chizzile', so Wiki is more or less right. I'm from
neighbouring Hampshire, so I'll take special notice of what proper Dorset natives say next
time I'm down there Smile One thing's for certain, there's no 'well' element
