ITV News at lunchtime moving to 12.30pm during Cheltenham week (Tue-Fri).
No doubt outrage on twitter that Loose Women has been dropped from the schedule and an article in the Daily Express to follow.
ITV can get away with dropping the weekday lunchtime bulletin 2 or 3 days in a year when there is a major football or rugby tournament that has matches being played in the early afternoon. Obviously, dropping the bulletin for most of a week would cause a great deal of consternation.
12,30pm has always seemed the more natural time for the lunchtime news, ive always thought 1.30pm was a bit too late, especially the regional news at 1.55pm as there is a big gap from 8.15ish on GMB until 13.55 for regional news. Its a shame they did away with the mid morning bulletin at 10.55am. Also ive noticed in recent years the regional lunchtime news has been around 4 mins long including the weather. Hardly ever do they have a report or a live link up with a reporter, its usually 4 or 5 storys read by the newscaster and then onto the weather. It deserves at least a 10 minute bulletin IMO given there is no other regional news since GMB and then nothing until the main 6pm news.
Im glad ITV are showing the Cheltenham races on the main channel. Its a big meeting and deserves to be.
Turns out the whole story is based on 1 persons tweet.
Somebody should break the news gently about Cheltenham week.
Indeed.
Somebody should also remind Loose Women (LW) fans that ITV, regardless of the dumbing down that took place from 1999, is still a public service broadcaster.
Perhaps the LW fans might enjoy watching Tom tomorrow (He is the housewives' choice - so I've heard).
