I'm sure it'll be just the same as the old 12.30pm bulletin was up until 18 months ago

People have such short memories, anything more than 30 mins was unheard of up until then

By the way, the ITV Lunchtime News used to be dual headed many years ago, back in the John Suchet era

But didn't the regional news appear at 12:15 BEFORE the ITN news at 12:30? It seems now it will be contained within the national news bulletin.

But in those days it was 30 mins national plus 10 mins regional, rather than both squashed into half an hour

The opener is to long, especially for the LN. Surprised they havn't had actual reports in their!

No need for an opener like that now anyway, without the flyover.

I suppose so!

I think it will make for a better bulletin!

BUT

Why don't they compromise and go for a 45 minute bulletin! 30 minutes national and 15 minutes local - as it used to be!? 13:15 - 14:00

Years ago that happened, but most recently the regional news was at 12.50

It seems like that this bulletin will turn into more of a summary?

If you take out the time for the national weather at the end, an advert break in the centre(and one at the end assuming the 2pm programme starts at 2pm) then you must have around 8 minutes for the regional bit - this leaves only around 14 minutes for actually news! Taking into account the opening and closing portions then news content might be as low as 12 minutes!

This seems like a total departure from the ambitious one-hour lunchtime news! Surely such a summary won't be dual anchored?

The 2pm programme will probabaly start late, just like the 1.30pm programme does now (usually the lunchtime news and weather takes until 1.30pm and then they have an ad break before the next programme.

Still, they will have hardly any time for the local news if they have an ad break as well in the middle of the bulletin.
