I wonder, does this mean new titles, or will they just use the Weekend ones for a few months and they move it back to 12.30?

I doubt the news will move back to 12.30 after this, so yes updated titles probably.

Wouldnt be surprised if it does one day move back to 12.30pm. Afterall they made a big fuss about the 1 hour lunchtime news and less than 2 years later its back to half an hour!

Yep, thats exactly what I was saying. They'll fiddle around but find out a 30 minute Lunchtime News at 12.30 with Nick is still the best choice.

Half an hour of regional news would be great. Westcountry had this at one point, Westcountry Lunchtime Live, but I can't see this happening now. ITV seem to have no interest in the regions. Rolling Eyes

HTV Wales never got a half hour of regional news, instead in this slot HTV (along with Central) had Shortland Street!

Didn't Shortland Street used to be shown on HTV at 13:00 straight after the lunchtime news?

Yes, instead of a half hour regional news which many other regions chose to show instead Wink

I think only a few regions had a half-hour lunchtime regional news and that was because they had previously an hour of regional news at 6pm before the Evening News was created.

Meridian only had an hour of news on Fridays so they had a 30 minute programme on Sundays instead.

how much influence do UTV and SMG have on the content and time of the news? do ITN just give ITVPLC wat ITVPLC wants?

Yes Westcountry was one region that had a 1 hour programme at 6pm and then a half hour lunchtime bulletin.

I used to like the type of fluff Yorkshire played out during "Calendar Lunchtime Live" - I'm not a fan of tabloid-y type stories, but the aforementioned programme provided a nice contrast to the 6pm bulletin. Why don't they try this again?

It seems like that this bulletin will turn into more of a summary?

If you take out the time for the national weather at the end, an advert break in the centre(and one at the end assuming the 2pm programme starts at 2pm) then you must have around 8 minutes for the regional bit - this leaves only around 14 minutes for actually news! Taking into account the opening and closing portions then news content might be as low as 12 minutes!

This seems like a total departure from the ambitious one-hour lunchtime news! Surely such a summary won't be dual anchored?
