I would not be shocked if we did not get the new set until they move to media city and we just get new lighting on Monday. They say on twitter and a "lick of paint"
I've always felt the large screen was somewhat wasted being used generally as just a scenic backdrop, so wonder if it might come into use as an actual presentation screen with the new look. I don't think the regional backdrops are necessary, especially with some of the super-sized regions.
Some don't even show an image, West/country tend to stick a yellow generic thing on it!
Central and Granada's are somewhat 4 years out of date now!
Granada's is live, as the red sign has gone on it now.
Doesn't make it live, just re-recorded!
The weather on the screen usually reflects the weather near me. I live about a couple of miles away from the studio.
Will be interesting to see if the 'lick of paint' is just the set being relit blue, or whether they do get the new set. I'd be surprised if they got the new set but its possible especially if they've had to vacate the studio.
Just on a side note, they've had quite a high turnover of weather presenters over the last few weeks. Even Lucy Verasamy was on this morning. I'm surprised they haven't put something more permanent in place yet, especially as Fred's future could be uncertain.
Unless I am wrong but pretty sure the start of the weather which showed a view of the UK Map looked slightly different but not when it panned on to the Granada Map.
I noticed slightly different graphics last night on the National Forecast too.
I'd interpret that as the AM bulletins will just be different logos and colours, with the later bulletins then switching to the new set. If they were just relighting it they'd have been no need to leave the set on Friday.
