I think it is fair to say both the Scottish and Welsh ones did feel alot more relaxed and less formal, but without diluting the message. I guess the setting at Downing Street instantly feels more formal.

Anyone know much about the proposed former court room setting at Number 9 they intend to use. Is number 9 where the briefings have been coming from?

According to Wiki 9 Downing Street was previously the location of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council until 2009, the highest court of appeal for British territories and some Commonwealth countries. A search on Google brings up the likely room that they mention:

From Wiki.

In January 2020, the government began hosting lobby briefings at 9 Downing Street instead of the traditional location in the House of Commons. The move was criticized by journalists.

Where did the Covid briefings come from? Similar sized room with enough space for seating.

I can't see any broadcasters being willing to take the entirety of one, let alone both. Probably end up using soundbites throughout the day, only joining them live when there's a scandal brewing...

I’m surprised both sides like them so much, I’m not entirely sure the Covid ones went as smoothly as they might have wanted, and quite often became a farce

ā€œTransport Secretary, I’m going to ignore the announcement you’ve just made about transport, and ask you a question about health, which you will be vague and uncomittal on, which I then can use in a report that says ā€˜the government refuses to rule out...ā€™ā€

Boris Johnson is still trying to woo Allegra Stratton, even though she has not applied for the role:

Lee Cain, the prime minister’s director of communications, is overseeing the hiring. Half a dozen candidates have been identified and will be interviewed and given a screen test.

The final two will be presented to the prime minister next month.

Sky News claims Angus Walker, Ellie Price and Lisa Aziz are contenders for the role.

And, yes, they still want Allegra Stratton.

Allegra Stratton will be who they are desperate to get. Look at how sharp Rishi Sunak’s communications are and how much cut-through they have.

She does that though pretty much without damaging her public profile. This role is basically the messenger taking the bullets.

True - which is presumably why she is reported as being reluctant to take it.

Can’t see it being Angus Walker. One of the biggest issues they have is the top team being very male-dominated.

Would have thought an existing MP would be better. Someone like Penny Mordaunt.
