I know we discussed it a few pages ago, but it would be so good if CNNI returned to Freeview, so those viewers could watch it too. It's been 10 years since it was taken off Freeview.

Completely agree. And with the launch of GB News and News UK having CNN would provide another alternative.

They could even team up with ITV/ITN and simulcast some of their programming in order to better compete with these new offerings.

It's to alert viewers that it's a CNN US and CNN International simulcast.
BBC News and BBC World News do it on their simulcasts too - they often welcome viewers ''in the UK and around the world'' - but not the ones on Mars...

Yes, but the issue is why Canada gets a separate mention.

Kim Brunhuber and Paula Newton are Canadian, so to me it just comes across as a personal acknowledgement of their home country

CNN International has been nominated for the Royal Television Society News Channel of the Year.
It is up against Sky News and BBC News.

This may be a question more for another thread, but does BBC World News not nominate for the RTS awards? Is it just BBC's UK-based networks that nominate?

BBC World isn't 'officially' available in the UK and doesn't broadcast to the UK, so no. It's the UK BBC News channel that gets nominated.

It hasnt happened in ages but I have seen Paula broadcasting from Ottawa. But that is has been quite. Maybe when she is on home leave or something. Canada barely scratches the news in the news in the US.

Posted in the other thread but thought Iโ€™d put here for some nostalgia. The days of CNN this morning in Europe from London and Berlin, Rosie pops up half way through as well. Enjoy!

Does anybody know if CNN has an own Whitehouse rooftop studio on top of the Chamber of Commerce, or do they use the stream eg. http://www.skehan.com/white-house-beauty-shot.html and project it on a green screen.
I saw John Harwood with a snowy WhiteHouse on the background. The camera angle hasnt changed the whole year. So I might be thinking CNN uses a camera feed and a green screen?

They definitely stream it to a flash studio in their Washington Bureau. Sometimes I wonder if reporters billed as being outside the White House are actually still inside the DC Bureau and itโ€™s all a bit of TV theatrics to say theyโ€™re down the street.

FWIW It's hard to see Harwood as a straight-on reporter in the same way as Collins or Acosta. Don't get me wrong, I think he has smart commentary and opinions but that's just that - commentary and opinion.

Thanks for your reply! Also today in New Day, John was on air with that WhiteHouse feed in the background. Without wearing any coat, seems to be he has to be in a studio Very Happy
But for the reporters outside the Whitehouse, sometimes you can see their vapor of breath. So they should be standing outside somewhere Laughing

Thereโ€™s a whole row of tents with standup positions for mostly domestic networks. Found a map of the location a while ago. See this article, at the bottom:
