BBC World News on Fuji TV in 2000, in original English and translated Japanese audio, airing in the early morning (starts at 1:40):

Totally agree - the whole serious tone is brilliant, that's been lost along the various revamps since. Only thing that lets that look down is the jarring titles.

Does The Boat Race usually go out without the news ticker when the BBC last had the rights?

Historically BBC World News opt-in and out but take the show with all graphics (which presumably won't be ticker safe) I think?
It looked like that's what occurred. Also worth noting Universal HD carried the Boat Race here in the US as "Olympic Channel Presentation". It appeared they choppily took the BBC feed (graphics and all) but with their own commentary. When Claire Balding was on camera talking before the races they had some aerial footage.
Now I'm currently watching World News. Normally at 2:30 AM ET (7:30 BST) they have a 10 - 15 minute news update at the BOTH followed by Business. But today at the BOTH they had one of those mini program segments from Click. It wasn't until 2:35 that they went back to news. This change didn't appear on the online guide. Any word if this is going to be a new practice?

GMT from Studio C this morning with Lucy Hockings at 10:00 BST as per the new schedule. Presumably she will switch to B during the 11:30-12:00 break.
A new male presenter was presenting the 09:00 BST bulletin - I didn't catch his name unfortunately.
Very odd that there has been virtually zero publicity from the BBC with regard to the schedule changes - normally there is a bit of a lead in to alert viewers.

It was Duncan Golestani. I don't know what his status was / is because he was anchoring / reporting for ITV up to a week or two ago and a few months before that he did a report for Al Jazeera.

It appears Duncan has gone freelance.

So with this schedule change is the Geeta/David Eeades late late morning shift gone? I assume the early morning shift presenter does that extra one bulletin at 09.00 CET?
Apparently not as Chris Rogers was on the 05:00 this morning and 09:00 (and presumably 08:00 as per normal) was done by Duncan Golestini according to the poster above.
