Looks like Newsday's lost Singapore again, Kasia Madera has been by herself since the TOTH.

Rob! Your archive is full of hidden gems indeed. And, yes, it is Riz Khan in the other video too. I'd really forgotten about some of the names that graced the World set in the early days. As you'd noted before in previous postings, it wasn't unusual to see Pamela Armstrong, Sue Carpenter and Julian Marshall presenting the bulletins.
That was also around the same time that Nici Marx and Alastair Yates joined.
One thing that struck me from a content perspective back then, and before the specific launch of the World Business Report brand, BBC World left quite a bit of it's business news to the static slides in the break filler. It wasn't all hay common to have detailed Business News programmes in those days, rather unusually I thought, given that other channels (namely CNN) had a specific business themed edition, aimed at the European audience.
BBC World was news only, if I recall correctly.
With regard to the lost line to Singapore again, I think Rico has deliberately pulled the plug himself today, so anxious is he for Jessica Sanchez, Filipina, to win American Idol. Along with the rest of the Filipino population at the moment, their mind is only on one thing. And it's not reading an autocue in Singapore! LOL.

Was that a hint of the old Breakfast News theme in the business news - or perhaps even Business Breakfast?
Also, on the Olympic news, those looks like decidedly non-standard Olympic rings. The IOC would be down on them like a ton of bricks these days!

This video might be of interest to some - some 12 minutes of footage from the early years of BBC World (or BBC World Service Television as it was then) in 1992. Interesting to see Pamela Armstrong (formerly of ITN) presenting the news!

That clip is indeed from BBC World Service Television. My guess at a date would be 1991-1993. As Ison says, the news presenter in that clip is Riz Khan, who I believe is now at Al Jazeera English.
As for World Business Day - I'm not 100% sure. If you look on that video of mine you'll see World Business Report billed on the coming up slide, so I'm fairly sure it isn't WBR's predecessor. I do know that there was a programme on BBC WSTV called World News Day, so my best guess that World Business Day would have been the business segment within that programme.
Haha! Sadly it's not from my own archive. The video was posted by "transdiffusion" on YouTube a couple of days ago. I merely found it
It is a great clip nonetheless!

Thanks for that video, itsrobert.
22 seconds into this clip, a couple of points:
A) I'm presuming this is BBC World, as I recognise the presenter Rob Butler, but who is the other guy?
B) It appears to be showing a programme called 'World Business Day'. Can anyone shed any light on what this programme was about, and the years it was broadcast, and who it's main presenters were? Was it a predecessor to 'World Business Report'?

I've seen everything now! A Shakespearean play being acted out LIVE in N8 during a BBC World News bulletin. Actors stood up and in full garb, reciting the scenes in Urdu, I believe?
I have seen some unusual things during news bulletins in my time, but this one was really unusual.
It was during Impact Asia on Wednesday, with Ros Atkins.
And now, at this very moment on Newsday, a New Zealand rock sensation is serenading Sharanjit Leyl LIVE in the Singapore studio.
Pop Culture. BBC World.

And there's hip-hop Othello at bbc.com/impact and a 'natural' orchestra at bbc.com/thehub - I suppose it is the year of the London Olympics so 'cultural segments' are more likely!

Chris Rogers in N9 this morning. Assume time for N8's anti static sprayover again?
I also wonder if Martine Dennis is going back to midweek 0500 slot, since Komla Dumor is moving to the new Africa programme. Could explain Martines absence yesterday and today.
It will still mean that they need another regular for the 5am slot, to take account of the Friday coverage and Nagas increasing appearances in Salford.
N9: you look good, old girl!

Yes, that's what I meant. But, even though, the slot always had a third presenter, mainly on Fridays and other random days. It was Martine herself who did this. Naga never does five days on World, but often does four on World and one on Breakfast.
So the team of Naga, Komla and Martine may now become Naga, Martine and another?
Are you available for the slot, Rados?
^ Maybe Marine will be alternating with Naga on the 5am slot just like Komla used to do.

I never really understood why the alternating weeks - surely it would make sense to have Naga Mon-Wed then Martine Thu-Sun, or something like that. Then Tim/Adam can surely fill in the gaps (or any of the various weekenders, Karin, etc)

Kasia Madera now in N9. The set still looks quite fresh, IMO, although they've avoided the plasma shot thus far today, as far as I could tell.
Also unusual to hear Adam Parsons actually filing a report for the channel, as opposed to be reading the news.
