I particularly liked the different captions they used for the decades of New Broadcasting House. They were very well done, surprisingly.

As far as I can tell they are new designs. The 90s one looks like it's 14:9 but it isn't, it was fading into 14:9 archive footage at the time and I couldn't get a screenshot of the finished animation before that.

You're right, they are all very much of their time!

Meanwhile, it's goodnight from them:

I think the circuit migration last night moved the TV opt switch and network feeds over to Salford Quays, so for the rest of the weekend, Oxford Road is feeding studio output down the line to SQ, which is doing the opting.
(Work like this gets carried out at the start of the weekend so there's a bit of time for contingency in case things don't go to plan.)

Mr. CTA? Sorry if this is too obvious, but what does that stand for?

Manchester Central Technical Area. The BBC has always referred to Manchester as MR. In most commercial organisations, what the BBC calls a CTA is referred to as a MCR. However the BBC thought this was confusing with Manchester (and Mobile Control Room?) so CTA has stuck in a lot of BBC buildings.

Ah that makes sense, thanks.

I have got to say that the last week at Oxford Road has been very good. They have put a lot into showing the history and the last few minutes of the program last night was fantastic.

On another note, when will we see the new studio, lunchtime or 6.30? and where will the breakfast updates come from?

How come Pebble Mill & The Mailbox didn't do this in 2004, instead of involving Nottingham?

I've still never understood why Midlands Today moved out of their normal studio a couple of weeks before the move to The Mailbox, while they continued to use the old Studio B gallery.

So where have today's bulletins come from?

So where have today's bulletins come from?

From what I can gather the bulletin was presented from New Broadcasting House - presumably also using their gallery but routed to air via MediaCity.

Out of interest would the bulletin have been sent via an OB truck to MediaCity or would they have had an ISDN link through to MediaCity?

Hopefully someone can capture pics/videos of the late bulletin on Sunday! Does anyone plan to do so, I would if I could but sadly Look North is the best I can do..
