Slightly botched ending to NN just now. Paxman said "that's all we've got time for, good night", the closing theme started to play, but was soon faded out, I suppose because they'd actually intended to play the minimalistic we've-run-out-of-time short version. No credits appeared on screen whatsoever, the final aerial shot of BH made it on but was textless.

It didn't get that far on the BBC HD Channel, we got the music fading down but no shot of Broadcasting House, just a caption about the change to BBC 2 HD. This happened a couple of days ago as well.
Odd that, you'd think when they moved to BH they would have updated the output.
Newsnight has traditionally been somewhat out of step with BBC News branding. It's only in recent times (2002-present) that they have succumbed to the demand to embrace the corporate branding and even then it's been a rather loose adoption for the most part.
Ian Katz, deputy editor of the guardian is to be the new newsnight editor. Current acting deputy newsnight editor Jamie Angus will be moving to become editor of the Today programme.
