SCAR is the control centre for all the news feeds coming in and out of TVC.

Also I agree it looked better yesterday in shirts and no ties. Especially given the apparent heat in that studio it seems petty to make them dress up just to keep complaints to newswatch from flooding in.


Can guarantee if it were the females being forced to do it, there would be complaints of sexism, discrimination etc...

Does anyone else think they should have put a plasma screen in the studio on the right of the desk? Sometimes there's not much variation in presentation with just the Olympic backdrop. All of the interviews out of the studio are also using split-screen which I'm not a huge fan of.

Would probably create even more heat, rather see the male newsreaders tieless and comfortable to be honest.

That looks more like a mix of the breaking red and the normal grey, as though the animation has broke in between the transition from grey to red.

Your correct, the ticker had just rose from the sting, and got stuck on that colour, then got fixed.

Yes, that small piece of coloured fabric is causing all the male presenters to overheat. Do you know how stupid that sounds?

Having worn many suits, I can safely say that a tie makes no difference to how hot you are. The suit jacket does, but you can just swap it for a linen suit. If it gets unbearable, then remove the jacket. The tie will make no difference.

That would probably have made life a lot more difficult in routing terms - as you'd then need a reverse vision from TV Centre to Stratford to feed it I guess? I'm assuming that the bulk of the gallery operation is still at TVC from a News gallery (at least until Thursday when the bulletins go HD using a TV Centre HD gallery as a hub - where I'd expect a TVC News gallery still to be used as a " VT" operation) - so any in-vision screens at Stratford would need to be fed from TVC?

I have to agree with Worzel here. I've worn suits (and last week a graduation gown on top, which was very hot indeed!) and it's something of a relief when I can slacken my tie and undo that top button. It makes a world of difference.

That's more of a restriction thing than heat. Removing the jacket is far more effective for cooling down than removing a tie and opening the collar button. I'm sorry to say it, but any reduction in heat you feel is your imagination.

Not wanting to get bogged down in such a bizarre discussion, but surely any additional discomfort/agitation creates heat within the body? Hence the expression 'hot under the collar'. The more relaxed you feel, the cooler you end up feeling. Of course removing a jacket cools you down, but removing a tie and unbuttoning slightly can help towards that end.
