The sofa is at the other end of the studio, because it allows all the screens to be used properly from sitting on the sofa.

I imagine the pillar is there to separate the far end screen, used for business on Breakfast and weather on NWT, from the other screens - like it is a separate section of the studio.

Panels at the far end probably because it's cheaper and the space isn't intended to be used on a regular basis. Personally I'd have put a desk there with the same screens as behind the sofa.

Having the sofa at one end allows the other end to be used as a performance area when required.

They are still doing the uncomfortable turns to look at one of the screens when doing an interview, almost turning 180 degrees, if there were 3 screens rather than 2 on the short wall, they'd be able to film from a better angle.

They really could do with using the furthest screen to the left of the presenters. It has been done on NWT in the past and it looks so much better than the awkward screen placed in the corner. It's an awful angle for the viewer completely. Might have a cap of the better use of screens.

I wonder if there is the space for a desk. If there is, it's a shame that NWT didn't install once and take the same aproach with the programme as they did in Broadcasting House, where the serious news would be presented from the desk followed by lighter stuff from the sofa.

I think the red sofa has become too synonymous with BBC Breakfast for them to not permanently use it during the programme. With the move to Salford, I think people really like the consistency of having a sofa seven days a week now. It adds a familiarity, friendliness and a willingness to connect with the viewer rather than a desk, which on a breakfast programme can be seen somewhat as a barrier. I just don't think a desk is needed, because for the breakfast audience, which generally just wants the news and such, they probably don't think a desk either matters or is justified.

Roger, no and NEVER again. I said that the first time, and they obviously haven't read our criticisms of him on here. How about Nicholas Owen, Jon Kay?

They need a couple more male relief presenters, if/when they get rid of Roger from Breakfast.

Actually the relief team ATM is sufficient surely?

Perhaps they just need to bring Nicholas, Jon and Simon up north more. The obvious solution to the problem would have Bill & Susanna or Charlie & Louise present Sunday!

I'm surprised the Daily Mail hasn't kicked up a fuss about having to ferry up presenters from London every Sunday to present Breakfast, which they always love to mention has just moved to SALFORD. However, the BBC and the press releases etc. before move to Salford didn't mention this new arrangement we have for Sunday. I miss the old set up of 4 days for one 'couple', and 3 for the other 'couple'. Why couldn't Bill and Louise do Thursday together, because they both live in the North West now? That would fairly give Charlie and Susanna no extra days, since they both live in London with families.

I forgot about Simon McCoy! Also Kate Silverton might as well join that list because I think she said a short while back that she'd be returning to the programme for relief work. Really just get rid of Roger, and the rest are completely fine. I'll be rooting for Nick and Naga though. They are the best so far!
