I'm also interested to see whether all the ad slots will be paid for by Qatar Gas, the Qatar Foundation, and Qatar Airways, just like the ad slots on AJE.

... or those home shopping adverts that are currently airing on Current TV. I may get a laugh at those if it will still be on Al Jazeera America!

Eh, that's about the usual advertising fare on digital cable TV in the US. Even CNN Domestic (which is a must-carry channel) has a lot of strange ads for automated wheelchairs and national tax 'help' corporations, and I'm pretty sure I've seen those awful Geico insurance commercials on my feed of BBC World. But it's not like the Qataris are hurting for cash.

I've seen adverts for Progressive and also the Samsung S4 on Verizon. I'm waiting for the adverts for Empire Today carpets and Stanley Steamer LOL!

Will we be able to watch Al Jazeera America online with a stream, or is it just available in America via cable or whatever? Would really like to watch the launch and programming.

Glad to see you're enjoying our rather lackluster cable advertising! You should see the ads that appear on local TV... Rolling Eyes

I don't think there's a stream for it unless if you're lucky enough to find a bootleg stream on Justin.tv or a site like that. The AJAM doesn't appear to offer a stream, and I'd be very surprised if they would, considering how much they've pandered to U.S. cable companies by blocking AJE webstreams to somehow prove to them that Americans will be paying them to watch some form of Al Jazeera, along with every variant of ESPN, MTV, and TBS imaginable that comes bundled with the cable bill.

I'm recording a large amount of AJAM today, so if I can figure out how to transfer SD video (sigh) to my computer again and upload it to YouTube, I'll try to upload some highlights tomorrow.

Charles I've seen plenty of local adverts on CBS 2 Tristate (NY, NJ & CT), god they're awful!

TVPC.com might have it later, they seem to have everything these days...

One thing I've noticed on Al Jazeera America's Facebook page today... Whenever an Al Jazeera English watcher is frustrated on the geoblocked live stream, all the AJAm admin can say is "We understand your frustration but we hope that you will give Al Jazeera America a chance."

I'm not sure if pleading to potential viewers will actually get the audience.

How can they give AJAM a chance when they are blocking it? Is anyone else saying 'duhhhh unblock it then for a while' so that AJE viewers can actually give it a chance...

It's pretty tough to watch the local news here with all those ads, especially if you live in a swing state like me and it's an election year. One ad would be an anti-Obama ad, the next, an anti-Romney ad.

But if I can indulge you (and it's slightly on topic!) here's a video of what Current TV was like in its better days, deconstructing local TV commercials on Viral Video Film School.

One comment on the facebook page says...
"Welcome to America...I want to watch you on my computer, not my television...so you have also lost me as a viewer."

I must admit, I understand their point... but I sort of don't see the logic. Isn't the point of having a television network is to be aired on television, while the online access are just an added bonus?

But maybe it's a good idea to have AJAm online for a limited time just for everyone to see what the channel offer... and also to appease those skeptics & detractors.

I just noticed this on Current TV right now... the channel DOG is so faint, you almost can't see it.
