I imagine that language would be the main issue with an Asian AJ service. If it broadcast in English (and that's pretty much the only option for a pan-Asian channel), it wouldn't really be all that different from AJE as it exists now -- an international service covering a wide range of different countries, but not really locally relevant to the person on the street.
Asia is very diverse and creating a "localized" channel that would be equally relevant to ordinary viewers in both, say, Seoul and Bangalore is very difficult -- much more so than in closely integrated Europe, for instance, let alone Latin America or the Arab world, where most viewers speak the same language.
If anything, I'd expect, say, an Indonesian version of AJ -- because of the size of the Indonesian market, a common language, and cultural ties to the Arab world (through Islam).
I wonder if they would ever do an Asian network...KL seems to be the only for broadcast center whose region wasn't later turned into its own channel. My guess is no seeing that they moved out of their offices into a smaller one a long time ago, but you never know.

Are there any way to see how well received Channel News Asia is in the region? I am in Singapore but the channel doesnt seem particularly outstanding.
Good point, especially seeing the dynamite, off-the-charts ratings success that the pan-regional Channel News Asia has been. Indonesia would probably be their only market there, similar to probably their mini-operation in the Balkans.

Yes, through MediaCorp.
Isn't CNA run by the Government of Singapore?
Yes, through MediaCorp.

Yes, through MediaCorp.
which is probably one of the reason why they are so slow in reporting breaking stories, even on their backyard.
seriously, CNN was much faster in reporting about the Tsunami disaster in Indonesia, and the Typhoon here in the Philippines.

Al Jazeera English are presenting on location in Edinburgh. (I've no idea whether this is just today or has been throughout the week). I can't really think of other situations when they anchor on location - common practice for CNN/BBC - in fact it is often notable that they don't.

Although AJ don't currently have a studio in the UK they can use so it's not surprising they had to present from an OB

A post on The Shard's official website with regards to AlJazeera moving into their building. Plus a picture of the very modern reception... still no indication as to when they'll begin broadcasting from there.

I though Al Jazeera have a studio in London.
