Different Covid restrictions on this side of the world. Very few new cases in NSW, Victoria etc, so restrictions being eased. Therefore masks/social distancing aren't required (even if it is good practice).

Where I am in New Zealand, with the exception of the border being closed (except for returning citizens who need to spend 2 weeks in hotel quarantine once they arrive), life is operating as normal, we can go out and about and do what we want with no social distancing/masks required.

It's for this reason that I usually take my seat belt off once I reach the motorway. Smile

If authorities had pursued a strategy that had resulted in just about zero traffic accidents occurring, then that might be appropriate.

Is it jarring as an "outsider" to see the lack of physical distance in TV production settings? Perhaps. But Australia is now in a fundamentally different position to the UK or the US. It would be odd to expect to see the same covid-19 measure on and off screen as in other countries, where case numbers are several orders of magnitude greater.

The antipodeans went for eradicating the virus unlike those of us in the northern hemisphere going with the strategy of being stupid and failing. And it has worked for them. Good for them. We can't project our failures onto the Aussies and Kiwis.

Off topic but comparing global hubs in the Northern Hemisphere to the likes of New Zealand and even Australia is possibly the most deranged thing I have ever seen on TV Forum.

They have certainly got control of the virus better than we have in Europe or the US, but looking at some (official ) Australian CV19 information, the country (and yes, it's large) is not out of the woods yet.

Indeed. It's not like the UK and Australia are both island nations on the edge of large continental populations. Oh.

Anyway, back on topic. Disappointed to see that they didn't make more of the newsroom for their set. They seem to have a small screen showing it, but it seems like a lost opportunity.

I thought I might get a bit of heat for that line. To be clear, I was being tongue in cheek.
