Go ahead, laugh. I already did at the vague sense of 'back in my day'-ness in your 'you shouldn't be up at that time of night' post. Who are you, the boarding school matron of the forum? Is it time for us to put our lights out yet?

Seriously though, I've admitted we were all crap at some point, I know I was and still am compared to some people, but my point is that some people here seem to post what is very obviously crap. Age has a bit to do with it, in the sense that none of the crap posters are over 18 but some are young and can create very good work. But the fact is there is a lot of **** out there and you can see its **** so don’t post it.

Tom (cat), I think you over reacted a bit there - admit it. Can we please just forget about this - age doesn't matter - as long as I provide good mocks, grammar, etc, that's fine.

My advice would be if you create a mock, leave it for half an hour & do something else. Then look at it again later and think to yourself 'assuming someone else had created it what would I think of it?'

If you decide you would consider it as 'rubbish' or similar then don't bother posting it, unless you don't mind getting comments posted by others along those lines. Also don't bother posting mocks if you cannot handle any form of critism or others' general opinions.

It seems a bit strange to me though, that some of the 'better' mocks on here hardly generate a response some times - whereas the bad mocks get pages of comments, feedback, abuse etc..

I'd agree there.

I think certain individuals just like to kick up a fuss when they know what it feels like to not be so skilled in certain apps when creating "mocks".

Everybody has to start somewhere, and getting constructive criticism is best but on here is more like a mass rammy of abuse and bitchy comments when a bad mock appears.

Most noticeably Bail does seem to be the one I notice doing this more than anyone.

The above are all examples from various mock threads started over the past few days. All of them in my personal opinion are total utter ****e. I know it’s the summer holidays (not for much longer thank god!) and all the kiddies have joined the forum to play which is fair enough if you have a keen interest in the media, we were all young once.

But why exactly does that mean everyone can go in paint/powerpoint whatever ****ty application that has nothing to do with graphic design and post utter rubbish “Because I was bored” Being bored is not a reason so create crap. If you must make a mock take time, put in more then 5mins effort think about why you are doing it, who will watch it, would it work on TV is it an improvement on the real thing?

None of the above (just a sample I got from the main index) qualify as even remotely broadcast-able. The main forums are moderated and controlled to some degree but this one seems to have gotten out of hand.

It used to be quite interesting looking at other people ideas and talents, MoD, AJ, MDTA, Ashfish to name a few, generally creative people. Now it’s full of junk. What is going on!?

Admittedly I have been getting more vocal in my opinions of late, there was a time when I'd just think better of posting and ignore it, some mocks may not be great and may not be bad so I don’t often post, but when people create things that are just taking the piss I just want to voice my opinion, as other do.

If I seem harsh so be it, TVManiac you post you artwork on a public forum, it was used within a group of other as an example of recent mock artwork, I meant nothing towards any one individual, nor do I intend to, only the mocks forum as a whole.

This is begging to get petty and personal so if a moderator wishes to close the topic then the matter will be closed, I will no longer voice my opinions if that is what you wish.

I do not "kick up a fuss" over the last few days I have posted twice in other peoples threads, merely voicing my opinion, Looking at my post the last three of mine have been "kicking up a fuss" The rest were helping people in Requests and general forum posts. Again I'm taking this personally and I mean not too.

All I ask is people consider why they post a mock and make sure you are proud of it and do not say things like "I know its rubbish don’t yell, I was bored and made this" but put effort into your posts.

Case closed in my eyes, you are welcome to have a go at me or whatever but I intend to go outside and cut mow the lawn on this fine day.
