Apologies for yet another post from me in this thread, I seem to be dominating it a bit but I keep finding videos that I think may be of interest to TV Forum. Here's a flick through ITV Digital on the day the Queen Mother died. Among the more interesting bits are that Shop! has gone off the air and there's an announcement on Carlton Cinema that they're continuing with their normal programmes. Channel 5 are showing adverts while BBC, ITV1 and Channel 4 are showing the news.

Besides the annoyingly loud and unnecessary intro, there are some decent uploads on that channel.

Ahh, the breaking up picture and red dot on ITV & Channel 4, typical of the On/ITV digital era! I think they changed the coding by the time Freeview launched so it was more robust (and of course they jacked up the power at DSO).

4 out of the original 6 muxes were put down to 16QAM - less space for channels but ultimately gives you a much better signal.

Arguably Muxes 2 and A kept with 64QAM - the signal was never as robust until DSO happened.

that Shop! caption looks like it was probably knocked together in PowerPoint - but you know what, fair play to them for getting something on air more quickly than a fair few other channels.

Although, looking at it again, the EPG says 20:07 so it must be from a later recording (indeed the tape stops between the Sky One clip and the Shop! clip).

Famous, of course, for their warehouse catching fire and being forced off air for quite a while. I remember a bunch of promos running for the duration and my young self found them a little haunting.
