Looks like someone at Blaze (SMTV Live) has been doing the rounds. A load of SMTV video clips have recently disappeared from YouTube due to copyright infringement. There was a channel that had almost every episode of Chums (uploaded in order too) now taken down.

Isn't Blaze owned by Ant & Dec now along with all royalties etc. Think they did along with Zenith who made Byker Grove.

Yes I believe that Blaze was a Zenith company that was bought by Ant & Dec.

It is a shame with programmes that are unlikely to ever be repeated on TV are removed. I understand the legality, but companies who own the rights rarely upload themselves.

Zenith went into administration, and Blaze was sold to the American producer of CD:USA, which was in production at the time.

Ant & Dec bought the rights to Byker and SMTV from the administrators of Zenith.

And thats how both have ended up like Timmy mallet, own most of tier archive. I never understand why there dont want BG to be seen again..

I seem to recall reading that they bought the rights simply because they want to know exactly where they're getting outsourced to so they could ensure their early work wasn't being shown anywhere and everywhere, rather than keeping them locked away never to be seen again.

There's an interesting oddity here during a TV-AM to Central handover from 1983, back in the days when it took ten minutes to reconfigure the ITV network for a 9:25am start:

The oddity is the fade from presumably a TV-AM sourced IBA slide to presumably a Central-sourced IBA slide. I understand the switching by BT would just straight cut, not fade out. How common were fades across IBA captions between 9:15am and 9:25am?
