How many different subscriptions are we going to need to watch what we want to watch soon, with everyone and their son launching their own service.
More so when Disney+ launches and maybe the new HBO/Warner service. Something or at least one of the streaming services will give at some point.
Whilst Netflix is undoubtedly the most popular streaming service right now, it has debt and doesn’t have a plan B. Amazon, Disney, BBC/ITV, Sky/Comcast have near to if not guaranteed revenue which can be invested wisely.
I look forward to see what BritBox will offer, but it seems to be more archive than killer content. If ITV are the bigger stakeholder here, they’ve got more to gain from it. Maybe some first run shows before an ITV transmission in the future perhaps?
I think what would be a good addition is a package deal from, Streaming R Us where you pay so much a month and you get access to the lot, rather than paying Netflix £5.99, Amazon £7.99, Britbox £6, TV Now £8 and so on. Those four would be nearly £28 a month as it is, we need somebody who's happy to package this up and sell it for £20 or whatever.
Of course whether the providers are happy to do this remains to be seen, but its not unprecedented - Netflix is cheaper I believe if you buy/use it through SkyQ so...
However, the studios are intent on splitting up the aggregators like Netflix and AZPV. They're not likely to approve of a super aggregator unless they are guaranteed a sum almost equal to the standalone fee they are likely to receive from their own products. I'm fairly certain though that BT are likely to add Britbox to their package range going forward. It'll be a valuable driver and also easy to manage too.

As a side I don't think in the Long run this is a good idea for the BBC if they really do want to avoid being made a subscription service come 2027 - it makes the idea more palatable to the public and new content will fuel anger against License Fee. The fact its 90% owned by ITV will be ignored.

It's kinda jarring that ITV has followed a highly successful strategy in re-positioning itself as a producer, and yet is now scrambling to have its own content platform.
